Who must sign Russell Wilson after QB shares emotional farewell message confirming Broncos departure?

After being amazed by Russell Wilson’s impressive Seattle Seahawks resume, the Denver Broncos secured him a lucrative deal. Nevertheless, the expectations of mutual success were not met, and the team’s treatment of Wilson became a point of contention.

After a turmoil-filled season that saw him benched after a contract dispute, the Broncos have finally decided to part ways with their once-beloved player. In response to their treatment, the starter has shared his last message as a Broncos player.

Russell Wilson shares emotional farewell message

After letting him be the center point of trade speculation, the Broncos made the decision to release star quarterback Russell Wilson on Monday, marking the end of his two-season tenure with the team. Shortly after the announcement, Wilson took to social media to express his gratitude to Broncos Country in a heartfelt farewell message.

The former Seahawks player conveyed his appreciation for the warm welcome he and his family received by sharing the special place the city holds in his heart.

“Broncos Country, Thank You! Over these last two years, you have welcomed my family and me with open arms and have embraced us as members of the Denver community. This city will always hold a special place in my heart,” he wrote in his post.

Interestingly, in his farewell message,  the 32-year-old extended gratitude to specific individuals, including fellow players, the video team, and even the lunch ladies. However, one conspicuous absence in his acknowledgments was Broncos head coach Sean Payton.

Wilson’s acknowledgment of various individuals while leaving out the head coach hints at a potentially strained dynamic between them. The reported on-field clash during Week 15 that went viral further fueled speculation about a less-than-harmonious relationship, per Larry Brown Sports.

Over his two seasons with the team, Wilson amassed over 6,500 passing yards, throwing 42 touchdowns and 19 interceptions in 30 games.

Best landing spot for Russell Wilson?

Russell Wilson’s departure from the Denver Broncos may have raised eyebrows across the football world, but the star quarterback isn’t letting it dampen his spirits. Though he lost his job, he is set to receive $39 million from the club this coming season, due to his guaranteed money. With financial security in hand, Wilson, who was recently trolled by Lions, now has the luxury of exploring his options and finding the best fit for his talents.

One potential destination for Wilson is the New England Patriots, who could benefit from his seasoned experience and Super Bowl-winning pedigree. The Patriots are reportedly considering parting ways with Mac Jones, opening the door for Wilson to step in and lead the team to success.

Another team in the mix for Wilson’s services is the Atlanta Falcons, who are currently exploring their options at the quarterback position. While the Falcons have expressed interest in Kirk Cousins, Wilson’s ability to excel in both passing and rushing scenarios could make him a more enticing option for the team.

Meanwhile, the Minnesota Vikings, currently looking to move on from Kirk Cousins following a season-ending injury, present another opportunity for Wilson. If the Vikings take a similar approach to the Broncos with Russ, the quarterback could find an appealing option to test his luck in Minnesota.

Wilson’s noteworthy performance in the latter part of the last season, particularly against Patrick Mahomes’ team, showcases his potential to be a strong fit for the Vikings.
