“Women no longer cry” Shakira sends cryptic message after ex-Gerard Piqué goes public with new girlfriend Clara Chia

Shakira has sent a cryptic message on social media after her ex-partner, Gerard Piqué, went public with his new girlfriend, Clara Chia.

The “She Wolf” singer posted a video of herself dancing to one of her songs on Instagram, with the caption in Spanish that read, “Women no longer cry, women dance merengue.”

The post came a day after Piqué shared a photo of himself and Chia cuddling together on Instagram, officially debuting their romance.

Shakira and Piqué were together for 12 years before announcing their separation in June 2022. The couple, who share two sons together, Milan and Sasha, stated in a joint statement that the decision was made for the well-being of their children.

Shakira has been candid about the difficulty of navigating the breakup, saying in an interview with Elle in September 2022, “It’s hard to talk about it, especially because I’m still going through it, and because I’m in the public eye and because our separation is not like a regular separation.”

The Colombian singer has also channeled her heartbreak into her music. Her latest album, Monotonía, which was released in 2021, features several references to a breakup. Her January single “BZRP Music Session #53” also hints at her emotions post-split.

Despite the pain of the breakup, Shakira has been open about moving on. In a recent Instagram post, she wrote, “Although our wounds continue to be open in this new year, the time has surgeon’s hands. Even if someone has betrayed us, we have to keep trusting.

In the face of contempt, keep valuing yourself. Because there are more good people than bad people. More empathetic people than indolent people. There are fewer who leave and more who stay by our side.”

Shakira’s message seems to be one of resilience and self-empowerment, encouraging women to channel their emotions through dance and self-care, rather than tears.
