WWE talent cuts: Dwayne Johnson, John Cena react to Dolph Ziggler’s release

Among the more than twenty-two wrestlers fired by WWE on Thursday, Dolph Ziggler’s unexpected exit was the most shocking. Last Monday, Endeavor completed its acquisition of WWE, prompting this massive release event. Among the prominent releases was Ziggler, a two-time World Heavyweight Champion and a Money in the Bank winner.

The amazing struggle he had with John Cena at TLC 2012 was one of the highlights of his career. Cena and “The Rock” both expressed their views, praising the American Champion. They found this Ziggler’s release very unacceptable, especially since he was shaping up to be a strong candidate for inclusion in the Hall of Fame.

Some wrestlers have gone public on social media with the news that they are officially leaving WWE. Dolph Ziggler is one of them but did not make any public statement till now about the cutoff.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson shared his thoughts on the new WWE releases on Twitter, posting a graphic highlighting Dolph Ziggler’s career, including the wrestler’s 1,554 main roster appearances, with all live events counted.

From 2004 through 2015, he was one of WWE’s most memorable and influential performers. In 2011, The Rock and the “Show-Off” appeared on WWE RAW together in a segment that also included many wrestlers, including John Cena and WWE Hall of Famer Mae Young.

The Cenation Leader also shared his respect on Twitter saying, “One thousand five hundred and fifty four matches”. Additionally, several WWE fans voiced their opinions on WWE’s surprising choice. Dolph, however, has not publicly responded to this post as of yet.

A charismatic WWE Superstar for 20 years, Dolph Ziggler had an incredible career. He won the WWE World Heavyweight Title twice, as well as the Intercontinental and United States Championships several times.
