Tommy ‘TNT’ Fury without a doubt earned the biggest win of his career against Jake ‘The Problem Child’ Paul earlier this year. Fury finally settled the rivalry with Paul by defeating him via a split decision.
Although one judge gave the fight to Paul, Fury clearly dominated the former ‘Disney Kid’ for the majority of the fight. Fury’s constant pressure and overall skill were just too much for the 6-1 YouTuber-turned-boxer.
Tommy Fury and Jake Paul have only fought once so far, their rivalry dates back a long time. Paul and Fury were first scheduled to fight each other back in December 2021 but due to a rib injury, Tommy Fury had to pull out of the bout. That fight was later rescheduled to August 2022 but again didn’t receive a closure as Fury faced some immigration issues.
Before their first scheduled fight, a training video of Tommy made rounds on social media alongside his elder brother and the best heavyweight boxer in the world Tyson Fury. In the video, Tyson can be seen hitting Tommy with a ball repeatedly in the ribs in an attempt to strengthen the particular area
Now in a new revelation, ‘TNT’ has revealed the real reason behind the injury was that incident itself. “Yeah, bang, the whole left side of my body quivered after it went down,” said Fury. “My dad, Tyson, everyone [used the] medicine ball on me. Bit too hardcore, yeah. Pounding it on Tyson’s stomach and going on to mine is a bit of a difference.”
Who is Tyson Fury fighting next?
Over the years ‘The Gypsy King’ has talked about retirement on multiple occasions but has never really walked away from the sport. According to various sources, Fury is not thinking about retirement yet and will possibly face Derek Chisora whom Fury has fought and already beaten thrice.
‘The Gypsy King’ was last seen inside the ring against Dillian Whyte, who he defeated via knockout. Talking about his future, one of Tyson’s close associates said
“We’re looking at the best available guy for him to fight this summer in the U.K. Maybe it’ll be Andy Ruiz, someone like that. Hopefully, if he’s successful, Usyk is fighting Daniel Dubois over in the U.K., in November or December those two guys could meet in Saudi Arabia.”
On the other side of things, Nate Diaz and Jake Paul have announced their fight set for August 5th so Tommy seems free to pursue a new opponent. The likes of KSI or Logan Paul might step up to the occasion!
