A ‘Machine’ Like Kamaru Usman Deserves ‘a Little Bit Rest’ Dana White, UFC, and Ali Abdelaziz Comes to Agreement

Speaking to Brett Okamoto of ESPN, the manager of Kamaru Usman, Ali Abdelaziz, said that the Welterweight Champion is currently resting, and will be back once his hand heals.

Kamaru Usman is the pound-for-pound number 1 fighter in the UFC. The welterweight champion, though, has been out of action since November. The last time he was in the octagon, he defended his title against Colby Covington. After picking up a decision win, Usman is yet to fight due to an injury suffered on his left hand.

When asked about the current status of his client, Abdelaziz said, “You know, I know, and the UFC knows that Kamaru is the most active champion in the UFC. He has been taking medications to make it through fights. but finally he has taken the decision that his body needs a break. Dana supported it(the decision), the UFC supported it, I supported it. The man is a machine, but sometimes the machine needs a little rest. ”

Abdelaziz, who also represents Khabib and Justin Gaethje, said that there is no one who can beat Usman,” But let’s not get it twisted. Kamaru Usman has not stopped training, even with one hand. All these guys thinking Kamaru is gonna be out of the cage for so long, they got it twisted. Nobody ( no fighter) has shown me that they can touch the man.”

“I think he will have the same legacy as Khabib. He will end his career undefeated in the UFC, and with the highest number of title defenses, and he’s gonna be on top.  But now, he is slowly trying his hand, and the UFC have been very respectful by giving him his space. But when he’s ready to fight, somebody’s gonna get it.”

Who’s Next for Kamaru Usman?

Usman is rumored to defend his belt against Leon Edwards next. Although there has been keen interest from the Usman camp to fight Canelo Alvarez. Usman has also received call-outs from Irish superstar Conor McGregor.
