Anthony Joshua’s World Title contender steps in to face Jared Anderson after visa issues force Zhan Kossobutskiy’s withdrawal

Zhan Kossobutskiy has been ruled out of the equation just 11 days before his highly-anticipated fight against Jared Anderson in Ohio. At the last moment, Charles Martin has been named as Jared’s ring opponent as a replacement for Zhan.

Anderson looks super excited for his homecoming fight in July where he has his family, friends, and fans in Toledo. This seems to be a dream come true moment for the rising heavyweight superstar.

To hopefully put on a show for his hometown, he is now scheduled to face a highly experienced heavyweight boxer who previously challenged Anthony Joshua.

Zhan Kossobutskiy bailed due to visa complications

Kossobutskiy, will not be able to make it to the United States due to Visa complications. In their July heavyweight showdown, Zhan is now no longer an option.

The Kazakh fighter, who is also undefeated in pro boxing, was excited to meet Anderson in his hometown. Unfortunately, the 34-year-old boxer now will have to go through the trouble of finding another suitable opponent.

Jared Anderson to face Charles Martin as Zhan Kossobutskiy’s replacement

Martin, who made the transition from amateur to professional in 2012 after a brief amateur career, quickly gained attention by winning his first 21 fights, 20 of which were by knockout.

The American heavyweight boxer, who received his first shot at a major championship in 2016, is now not interested in waiting to secure a fight against Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz. Which likely shows his intention to go after one of the young guys.

“The three young guys that look decent are Jared Anderson, Daniel Dubois, and that Cuban, [Lenier] Pero. I’m gonna clip one of these guys that no one wants to fight to prove a point.” Martin said.

After his defeat against Joshua, “Prince Charles” experienced some setbacks in his professional life. In 2018, the veteran heavyweight lost to Polish boxer Adam Kownacki by unanimous decision.

Martin, who now has a 29-win (26 via knockout) to 2-loss record, claims he has never been this dedicated or felt this strong before. After discussing with his manager Mike Borao, Martin has decided to fight more often.

“I know I only have a couple more years left, so I plan on being busy and making them count. I’ll fight anyone and do anything to become a two-time heavyweight champion.” Martin added.
