La Liga champions FC Barcelona have already suffered a huge blow after failing to land their top target – Lionel Messi – in the summer transfer window. Now, they are set to miss out on another potential target, Manchester City’s star midfielder Bernardo Silva, as Paris Saint-Germain are looking to reunite Kylian Mbappe with his former teammate.

The 28-year-old attacking midfielder is currently valued at €80 million by Transfermarkt. Silva has a contract with Manchester City until 2025; however, according to reports, he is considering switching clubs in the summer and is under the radar of Barcelona, as well as Paris Saint-Germain.

The playmaker has reportedly chosen his next destination, as reported by Telefoot. Even though the Portugal international prefers a move to Barcelona, he is aware of the club’s financial woes. He had no idea if they would be successful in signing him.
PSG is prepared to pay €80 million to acquire Bernardo Silva. According to the same news source, an official announcement about his signing is possible within the next few weeks.

Bernardo Silva joined the Cityzens in 2017, and across the span of the last 6 years, he became a crucial part of the Manchester City midfield, scoring crucial goals, and performing well in crucial matches. His performances have been impeccable in Manchester City’s treble journey this season.
However, with only two years of his contract remaining, and no signs of a contract extension just yet, it might appear to some that Pep Guardiola is ready to let the player go. There are also Jack Grealish, Phil Foden, and Riyad Mahrez who can play a similar role to that of Silva. However, Silva is just 28, and he has been in constant form over the years. Hence, I believe it will be foolish for Manchester City to let him go.
Who should Barcelona sign to bolster their squad?
With Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets leaving the club, FC Barcelona is in dire need of revamping its midfield. Frenkie De Jong hasn’t always performed the best, and Pedri and Gavi are rather young and inexperienced.
Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan would be a good fit for the Catalan club. The German midfielder just won the Champions League, and as of now, he will become a free agent by the end of this month. Should he be available for free, Barcelona needs to step up their game and try to sign him, as his experience will be a wonderful addition to the squad.
Another potential signing could be RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku. The 25-year-old French forward is a versatile player who has been performing exceptionally for the Bundesliga club over the last few years. However, he also comes with a hefty price tag of €80 million.
