Bill Belichick has reportedly shortlisted three teams for his next coaching job

Bill Belichick is entering the 2024 season without any job for the first time in 50 years. The HC parted ways with the Patriots three months ago and has been trying to find a new home since then. Reportedly, Belichick has already shortlisted three teams he wants to coach in the next season.

According to the reports, the three teams on Bill Belichick’s radar are the New York Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Dallas Cowboys.

The coach has set his eyes on the NFC East for his next coaching gig. Belichick has reportedly told his confidants about his preference for these three teams, per ESPN.

Among these three teams, the Cowboys are emerging as the top potential landing spot for the HC because of the close bond he shares with the team’s owner, Jerry Jones. One of Belichick’s friends shared that the Cowboys are the top and the only contender.

“I don’t think Bill Belichick will ever be a head coach again in the National Football League,” the friend said, per the same ESPN report. “Unless it’s [for] Jerry Jones.”

While the Cowboys emerge as one of the top potential landing spots for Bill Belichick, there are other options and possibilities as well.

What could be Bill Belichick’s possible destination?

The three teams that Bill Belichick has shown interest in are all facing crucial 2024 seasons.

The New York Giants are entering Year 3 under the leadership of Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen. After making the playoffs in 2022, they had a disappointing 2023 season, losing some of the goodwill earned the previous year.

Bill Belichick has expressed affection for the Giants, having served as their defensive coordinator. This history may influence his interest in coaching for the Giants again.

Despite rumors linking Belichick to the Cowboys, Jerry Jones decided to retain coach Mike McCarthy after a disappointing postseason. But it is the final year of McCarthy’s contract so there is potential for the team to sign Belichick after McCarthy’s contract ends.

As far as the Eagles are concerned, both Eagles owner Jeff Lurie and GM Howie Roseman are known as fans of Belichick. However, the team ultimately decided to stick with coach Nick Sirianni. For now, there is no space for the HC in the Eagles.

Bill Belichick’s deal with the Falcons also didn’t work out so for now his future remain uncertain. Let’s wait and watch what will be the final landing spot for Bill Belichick.

Which team do you think the HC will join? Let us know in the comments.
