Brazilian authorities take action against PSG star Neymar with second fine for environmental infractions

Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr. has been out of action since February, raising doubts about his future at Paris Saint Germain. And now,  The 31-year-old striker has added his fair share of controversies. Just recently, he publicly confessed to infidelity to his pregnant girlfriend, Bruna Biancardi.

He seems to have made it into the headlines for yet another controversy, as the 31-year-old Paris Saint-Germain superstar faces action taken against him by his local authorities on Saturday.

Neymar faces second fine over unlicensed construction

Brazilian environmental authorities fined footballer Neymar again on Saturday after he disobeyed their orders to stop an illegal construction project at his mansion outside of Rio de Janeiro, according to officials.

The project, according to inspectors, improperly diverted a waterway, took water from a river, carried out extensive landscaping and excavation, and used beach sand. Neymar reportedly hosted a party there and went swimming in the lake despite the authorities cordoning off the area and ordering a stop to all activity, according to Brazilian media reports.

Environmental inspectors went back to the site on Saturday, the city government reported, and discovered “activity” there that was “violating the restraining order and committing further environmental infractions.”

The report also stated that Neymar would have to pay an additional fine of an undisclosed sum, with “the total value to be calculated after a full investigation,” which is anticipated to be completed by the end of next week.

The Brazilian forward was already facing a fine of at least $1 million after officials claimed they discovered “various environmental infractions” at his opulent property in the resort town of Mangaratiba on Thursday. Workers were there creating an artificial lake and beach, and the property was being used as a luxury rental.

Is the Brazilian going to stay with PSG?

As the summer transfer window draws near, Neymar’s future remains uncertain.

The Paris Saint-Germain star hasn’t seen minutes on the pitch since he got injured in February. He is currently recovering from an operation on his right ankle, and it remains unclear whether the Brazilian attacker will remain at his current club. He is unfavored by the Parisian crowd at the moment, as fans took place in front of his house, telling him to get out of the club.

Reports suggest that Neymar is willing to take a pay cut in order to make way to his former club, FC Barcelona. He has also drawn interest from multiple Premier League clubs as well as clubs from the Saudi Pro League.
