The great Jon Jones is one of the finest MMA fighters to date. But his sudden loss to Matt Ridle made Daniel Cormier question if he was a fair fighter or not against Matt, despite the record of Jon being a cheater at fighting.
Jon Jones, the youngest champion of the UFC, often gets questions about his fighting. There are many reports that he takes drugs whenever he enters a fight. Between 2015 and 2017, Jones was involved in several controversies and lost his title three times as a result of disciplinary action.
On that note, Riddle, 36, recently expressed his thoughts about his high school fighter, Jon Jones. “That’s how he beat me in a fair fight with no cheating.” Riddle said, “I’ll say that Jon Jones, like him or not, he’s always been a top-tier competitor since I’ve known him since high school and throughout his UFC career and etc.”
Riddle again, said “He might — I’m not going to get into anything else, but I don’t think when I beat him he was cheating yet. I don’t think he used any PEDs or was on any stimulants or anything like that. I think he was young.
Despite the move from MMA, Matt also revealed that he wants a third bout between him and Jon. He would like to beat him again in another official MMA fight card. After one post-UFC victory, Riddle was off to a flourishing career as a professional wrestler.
However, Daniel Cormier, former heavyweight and light heavyweight champion, thinks Matt is one of the few people who can actually say they have beaten Jon Jones. He was also curious and asked many times, “Did Jones do any cheating in the ring? Was it a fair fight? Cormier added,
“You, on the other hand, have done something once that I have never done; you beat Jon Jones. So, my question to you is this, Riddle: do you think Jon Jones was cheating you at that time as much as he cheated me, or do you think he played fair and that’s why you won? That’s all I got to know. ”
Despite the controversy, Matt refuses to get involved in Jon’s case. He said, “You know, a lot of people say crazy things. But he’s failed some tests. I’m not going to say anything because I’ve failed some tests, too. I don’t want to go there. I don’t throw rocks; I live in a glass house. You know what I’m saying, bro? But all I know is that I think he was young and still just working his way up. “
