Denver Broncos expected to sign former Steelers CB Levi Wallace for defensive boost

The Denver Broncos are still working to improve their defense after they bid farewell to QB Russell Wilson as recently it was reported that the team is now eyeing the cornerback, Levi Wallace.

The team has arranged a visit from Wallace, the former Pittsburgh Steelers CB, as they are expected to sign him to improve their defense.

The NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that if the visit goes well, the team will soon sign the CB as the team was looking to sign a one-year deal for the veteran cornerback.

Levi Wallace will be added to a room with young star Patrick Surtain. Ian Rapoport also reported that Levi Wallace had multiple options in free agency but the reason he still decided to opt for the Broncos was Vance Joseph. The former Steelers CB wanted to play under defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.

During the visit, the team will probably make Levi Wallace undergo some testing to make a final decision about him. If the team offers a lucrative one-year deal to the CB and things go smoothly, the Broncos will have a new and talented addition to bolster their defense.

Levi Wallace expected to be a valuable addition to the Broncos

As Levi Wallace signs with the Broncos, whose one player was suspended he is expected to be a valuable addition to the Broncos. Wallace started his NFL career in 2018 when he signed with the Buffalo Bills as an undrafted rookie. He started 52 games over the past four seasons for Buffalo, playing at both outside cornerback spots.

Levi Wallace became a free agent after the 2021 season and signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He recorded six interceptions during his time with the Steelers.

In total, the CB has intercepted 12 passes over the past five seasons. He had four interceptions in 2022 and two more in 2023 with the Steelers.

But Levi Wallace became a free agent this year as the Steelers decided to move with Joey Porter Jr as the starting cornerback. Now, he is expected to sign with the Broncos where he will compete with Riley Moss and Damarri Mathis for the starting cornerback position opposite Pat Surtain II.

Levi Wallace brings experience and a track record of interceptions to the Broncos and hopefully will be a valuable addition to the team’s defense.
