Devin Haney slapped with $25,000 fine after pushing Vasyl Lomachenko at Weigh-ins prior to their undisputed lightweight fight

Devin Haney may have defeated Vasiliy Lomachenko, but some of his mistakes during the lead-up finally seem to be catching up to him. The undisputed lightweight champion is currently required to pay a sizable fee for the actions he took prior to the fight.

About a month ago, Dream and Loma’s highly anticipated lightweight boxing bout took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. 116-112, 115-113, and 115-113 were the final scores, giving Haney the controversial unanimous decision victory.

Devin Haney slapped with $25,000 fine for physical altercation at Weigh-ins

The day before the highly anticipated boxing bout, Devin unexpectedly pushed his ring opponent Vasiliy Lomachenko in a violent manner during the ceremonial weigh-in. Loma maintained his composure despite getting shoved, possibly preventing further escalation.

Due to the altercation, Devin now will have to pay $25,000 as a fine. Nevada Athletic Commission yesterday came to the decision that as a punishment Haney will have to pay not just $25,000 as a fine but also $326 as prosecution fees.

After winning, Devin Haney also terminated his connection with his boxing promoter and declared himself a free agent. The Dream parted ways with Bob Arum as Bob apparently appreciated Vasily’s effort in the fight.

Devin Haney’s father brutally insults Regis Prograis ahead of potential fight

This week, Prograis defeated Danielito Zorrilla admirably in front of the supporters from his hometown. After the win, Regis immediately challenged Devin Haney for his upcoming battle.

‘Rougarou’ threatened to defeat Haney next during a FaceTime session. The two boxing sensations engaged in a heated back and forth during the conversation.

Regis threatened Haney during the conversation by saying, “I’m going to tell you in front of your dad. I’m going to whip your a**.”

Devin’s father Bill Haney, who enjoyed the fight from the ringside as an instructor for Regis, wasn’t quite impressed with the performance of Zorrilla.

However, Bill during the post-fight interview with Fight Hub TV talked about his son now that there’s a chance for Regis to collide with Devin.

“There’s a warrant for Mr. Regis Prograis.  You know what I mean. I’m here to make the announcement and I’m sure that Devin will be serving it soon.” Bill said.

Eddie Hearn, the boxing promoter, wasn’t entirely pleased with the fight since he had expected more from Zorilla. The British boxing analyst claimed that ‘El Zorro’ should have given more of a fight. Despite this, he too is currently considering the Regis-Haney bout.
