Dolphins’ wide receiver Tyreek Hill recently hinted at a potential new addition to the Miami Dolphins. In March, the team extended an offer to Odell Beckham Jr. and even hosted him for a visit.
Despite this, nothing was confirmed with the free-agent wide receiver, which seemed to quiet the rumors of Odell joining the Dolphins. However, Hill appears to still be anticipating this deal, as evidenced by his cryptic social media story.
Tyreek Hill speculates Odell Beckham Jr to Dolphins
Recently, Tyreek Hill posted a story on Snapchat in which he hinted that Odell Beckham Jr, reportedly dating Kim Kardashian, is soon going to sign with the Dolphins. In his story, Tyreek Hill wrote, “OBJ to Miami confirmed.”
The Dolphins extended an offer to the free-agent wide receiver. The HC of the team confirmed the rumors that they have eyes on Beckham. “Things went great with him,” McDaniel said of Beckham in late March.
“We did make him an offer and business takes time, especially with players like Odell, who’s had a phenomenal career and still has really good football in front of him and has options. I think those conversations will be ongoing. We’ll see where they go.”
But later sources reported that things didn’t work out between the two parties. The sources close to Odell Beckham Jr also reported that there is no possibility of signing with the Dolphins as the WR won’t be signed until after the drafts.
Amid these all speculations, the cryptic story of Tyreek Hill, who shut down the rumors of his divorce, has stirred mixed reactions. As of now, there has been no official confirmation or announcement regarding Beckham signing with the Dolphins, despite the hints from Hill. However, the team has already begun exploring other options, with Tyler Boyd being among them.
Is Odell Beckham Jr better fit than Tyler Boyd for Dolphins?
The Miami Dolphins have been looking for a talented wide receiver to bolster their offseason after Cedrick Wilson Jr.’s departure. The team has strong WRs including Tyreek Hill but adding a third WR would only help the team build a stronger foundation.
The team initially attempted to sign Odell Beckham Jr., but reportedly, that deal couldn’t come to fruition. Now, the next option the team is considering is free agent Tyler Boyd. Boyd had a productive stint with the Cincinnati Bengals and could potentially be a better option for the Dolphins. However, the question remains: will he be a better option than OBJ?
Tyler Boyd was drafted by the Bengals as the 55th overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft. He has been a consistent performer for the Bengals’ offense for eight years. While Odell Beckham Jr has a more glamorous background, Boyd has been more impactful on the field in recent years.
Beckham had a turbulent time with the Cleveland Browns before moving to the Los Angeles Rams. He experienced highs and lows with the Rams, winning a Super Bowl ring but also suffering a torn ACL in the 2021 season.
After one year of recovery, Beckham returned to the NFL with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023. In 2023, Boyd recorded 667 receiving yards and two touchdowns on 67 receptions. Beckham, during the same year, put up 565 receiving yards and three touchdowns for the Ravens.
Considering all these factors, Boyd would be a better option for the team as OBJ also carries an increased risk of injury due to his history. Despite that the Dolphins have prioritized signing Beckham over Boyd and now Tyreek Hill has also hinted about this potential move.
