Patrick Mahomes on the verge of Chiefs’ history, inches away from breaking all-time passing record

The Kansas City Chiefs have one of the most talented quarterbacks, Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes has turned the franchise around from the very first day he took the starting role with the Chiefs.

Last season, the QB helped his team win back-to-back Super Bowl championships and he is now on the verge of breaking an important record of the Chiefs.

Patrick Mahomes inches from shattering Chiefs’ all-time passing record

Patrick Mahomes got the starting quarterback role in 2018 and has since then impressed everyone with his exceptional football prowess and talents. Mahomes is believed to be the only QB in the NFL who can replace the NFL legend, Tom Brady.

Recently, it was reported that Patrick Mahomes is close to breaking yet another record for the Chiefs. Mahomes is just 84 yards away from becoming the team’s all-time passing record.

Till now, the QB has thrown for 28,424 yards and will need only 84 yards more to break the record of Len Dawson, who had thrown for 28, 507 passing yards.

Considering the QB’s passion and determination for the upcoming season, he is expected to break the Chiefs’ all-time passing record soon.

Even during the offseason, the QB has been busy working out and training with newly signed players of the team. There is no stopping Patrick Mahomes going into the new season, but the question is if there is any player in the league right now capable of beating Mahomes.

NFL analyst talks Patrick Mahomes’ next QB rival

As the Chiefs head into the 2024 season, they have a chance to make NFL history by winning three consecutive Super Bowls. With the Chiefs’ dominance, the question arises whether any other team and quarterback can emerge as a rival to challenge Kansas City and Patrick Mahomes’ supremacy.

Recently, the Houston Texans have garnered attention due to their offseason moves and the presence of C.J. Stroud. It is widely believed that C.J. Stroud can become the rival of the Chiefs QB.

However, Nick Wright of FOX Sports doesn’t think it will happen as he said, “There are no challengers” for Patrick Mahomes.

According to Wright, there’s currently no quarterback who comes close to Mahomes in terms of statistics and legacy in today’s NFL.

Undoubtedly, the pace of success Patrick Mahomes has opted for is rare and difficult to maintain by any QB. Let’s see if C.J. Stroud will be able to fulfill everyone’s expectations and show a performance that can be considered better than Patrick Mahomes in the new season.
