“Don’t think we have any cigars” Patrick Mahomes fires shot at Joe Burrow after Chiefs’ tight 23-20 win vs Bengals in AFC championship game

The Chiefs out-dueled the Bengals on Sunday night to win their third AFC title in four seasons, it did not take long for them to express their disgust with the Bengals’ attempt to rename their home stadium as “Burrowhead”.

The Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes had something to say about the habit of Joe Burrow and his teammates of smoking victory cigars after big wins.

Mahomes took a subtle shot, this one aimed at Joe Burrow himself. When asked whether he wanted to celebrate the AFC victory before the Super Bowl, Mahomes said, “I don’t think we have any cigars,” an obvious reference to Burrow’s love for smoking on a stogie or two.

Pat Mahomes Sr., Mahomes’ father, and a 13-year MLB pitcher, even joined in the fun, saying he was “smoking that Joe Burrow” while holding a cigar in his hand postgame.

Then, as the AFC winners were presented with the Lamar Hunt Trophy, Mahomes checked with the fans to make sure the stadium was still called Arrowhead and not “Burrowhead.”

Patrick Mahomes scrambled for a first down on his badly sprained right ankle, then was shoved out of bounds late by Joseph Ossai, giving Harrison Butker a chance to kick a 45-yard field goal with just a few seconds remaining, giving the Kansas City Chiefs a 23-20 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals in the AFC title game on Sunday night.

The Chiefs defeated the Bengals after three straight defeats, including a three-point overtime loss in last year’s title game, and will face the Philadelphia Eagles, in their third Super Bowl in four years.

However, the trash talk seems to be continuing ahead of the Super Bowl, with the Kelce brothers preparing to face off in what will surely be their largest head-to-head matchup yet.
