€5,000 starting bid for bed in auction cause Cristiano Ronaldo slept on it

Be it a win or a loss, Cristiano Ronaldo is a widely admired figure known for his commanding presence on the pitch. Recently, during an international friendly match against Slovenia, the Portugal national team, led by Ronaldo, suffered a humiliating defeat while playing in Slovenia.

However, after the team’s departure, the hotel where they stayed decided to auction off the bed that Cristiano Ronaldo slept in to the general public, which has caused a ruckus among CR7 fans.

Bed used by Cristiano Ronaldo hits auction market

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was part of the Portuguese squad that stayed at the Grand Plaza Hotel during a visit to Ljubljana. Although he probably enjoyed a good night’s sleep in luxurious surroundings, his mood soured after suffering a shocking 2-0 defeat in the Stozice arena.

Local supporters struggled to catch a glimpse of Ronaldo off the field, despite gathering at Brno airport and the hotel where Portugal stayed. The all-time great was kept out of the public eye.

The Grand Plaza Hotel has announced that they will be auctioning off Ronaldo’s bed, with all proceeds going to charity.

A statement reads: “Since this was a rather special and unique event, we decided to prepare a unique surprise in which all fans can participate. We do not know when we will have the opportunity to host Ronaldo in Slovenia again. At a special auction, we will offer the bed in which the star Cristiano Ronaldo slept at our place. We wish everyone good luck and successful participation in the event.”

The starting price for the bed in question will be €5,000, but that figure is likely to rise rapidly as Ronaldo’s loyal legion of followers battle it out for the right to claim ownership of furniture that has been used by one of the greatest players to have ever graced a football pitch.

Cristiano Ronaldo to create unique record with goal-scoring form

Cristiano Ronaldo, being one of the most versatile players of all time, has quickly adapted to the Saudi environment. In just one season, the 39-year-old is currently leading the “Golden Boot” race in the “Saudi Pro League” with a four-goal lead over Al-Hilal’s Aleksandar Mitrovic. He has scored 26 goals in the league this season, including a hat-trick during a 5-1 victory over Al Taee on Saturday.

With this current goal-scoring form, Ronaldo is set to break another record in his career, where he could become the first player in football history to win a Golden Boot in four different top divisions, excluding state championships.

Previously, Ronaldo became the top goalscorer in the Premier League with Manchester United, La Liga with Real Madrid, and Serie A with Juventus.

A host of world football stars have also won Golden Boots in three different countries, including Alfredo Di Stefano, Ruud van Nistelrooy, and Robert Lewandowski.

Another player to have done so is Luis Suarez, who was the top scorer in the Eredivisie with Ajax, La Liga with Barcelona and the Premier League with Liverpool.

At present, only Cristiano Ronaldo and Luis Suarez are the only active players who could break this feat. Ronaldo being the frontrunner in every aspect of his life, will surely achieve this interesting feat at the end of the season.
