Ex-Man Utd star Wayne Rooney’s bold prediction on Man City vs Real Madrid came true: “They’ll blow them away”

Former England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney predicted the outcome of the UEFA Champions League semifinal correctly, as Manchester City surged to the final, thrashing Real Madrid 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium last night.

The Etihad Stadium was full of happy faces last night after the dominant display of the home side. The score was 2-0 already in the first 45 minutes after a sublime performance from Bernardo Silva. It could have easily been 4-0 in the first half, but it wasn’t, thanks to Thibaut Courtois miraculously saving Erling Haaland’s point blank headers on two different occasions.

The 2nd half wasn’t any better for Los Blancos. The defending champions looked like a disorganized, lost team, conceding another two goals in the second half. It was an embarrassing performance from the defending champions, to say the least.

Going into the tie, Real Madrid, who are the champions of Europe for a record 14 times, were supposed to be a far more difficult challenge to overcome. But, Manchester City proved all the doubters wrong, and Wayne Rooney’s prediction right!

Wayne Rooney was confident about Manchester City’s victory

Wayne Rooney made his predictions on the game ahead of the tie. Writing in his column for the Times, Rooney made bold claims that the current City team will not just win the 2nd leg, they will do so overwhelmingly.

And why wouldn’t he? The Citizens have been in sublime form throughout the whole season, recently climbing to the top of the Premier League table over Arsenal after defeating them 4-1 last month. They now are sitting comfortably at the top of the table, 4 points clear of the Gunners, with 1 more game in hand.

Pep Guardiola has done such an amazing job with the team this season. Erling Haaland, Kevin De Bruyne, and Bernardo Silva are in the form of their lives, and the squad has little to no fitness issues, with only Nathan Ake out of the squad for the time being.

Manchester City are so close to winning the treble consisting of the Premier League, the Champions League, and the FA Cup this season. With the overwhelming performance they showed against Real Madrid, it is highly unlikely that Pep Guardiola’s men will slip up.

The Citizens will host Chelsea in their 36th Premier League schedule on Sunday, where they have the chance to secure the Premier League title with a victory. Pep Guardiola surely wouldn’t want to delay the celebration and will be coming at full force!
