Former WWE champion makes surprise AEW debut in Dynamite dark match

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) is one of the top professional wrestling promotions currently. The promotion, founded in 2019 by entrepreneurs Shahid Khan and his son Tony, is the top competitor of WWE in the industry. With a record of hiring wrestlers like Bryan Danielson, Chris Jericho, and Jon Moxley (fka Dean Ambrose), AEW is at its peak due to its perfect execution for their events and fans love it about them.

Scott Taylor, formerly known as Scotty 2 Hotty, recently made a surprise appearance in the AEW Dynamite Dark match. The former WWE superstar’s presence shocked fans and was welcomed warmly following his return.

Former WWE Champion makes AEW debut on Dynamite

Scott Garland (a.k.a. Scotty 2 Hotty and Too Hot Scott Taylor) retired from wrestling in 2016 and was then hired by WWE as a couch for the new talents in NXT. In 2022, he returned as an independent wrestler and wrestled for Game Changer Wrestling (GCW). Earlier this year, PW Insider reported that Scott Garland was working backstage as a producer for AEW Dynamite; this confirmed that the legend was with AEW but only on backstage.

On December 27 in Orlando, the legend made his big comeback. He entered the arena using his classic Too Cool theme music and the fans instantly cheered when he made his entrance.

Taylor teamed up with Billy Gunn and the Acclaimed (Max Caster and Anthony Bowens Billy) to defeat the Gunns, Matt Menard and Jake Hager. It was exciting for the fans to see Garland in action after such a long time, and the superstar showed the audience that he still had it in him as a wrestler. The former WWE Tag Team Champion went on to win the match with the AEW trios and showcased his experience as a professional during the match.

Samoa Joe turns on MJF on AEW Dynamite

AEW Dynamite was a satisfactory event for the fans and the drama at the main event surprised fans with the result. MJF and Samoa Joe were to defend their ROH World Tag Team Championship against The Devil’s Masked Men. Both teams were preparing for the match but just before the match Samoa Joe was attacked backstage, leaving him unable to continue for the match. AEW World Championship Maxwell Tyler Friedman (MJF) then went alone to defend the title.

MJF performed well at the initial stage but was ultimately overpowered by the numbers. He was defeated by the Devil’s Masked Men and lost the title. The new champion then went on to beat the 27-year-old superstar until Samoa Joe made his entrance to defend him with a chair in hand.

As the champion recovered and stood up, on the screen, a cryptic message appeared: “Pleasure doing business with you.” after which Joe started beating MJF with the same chair and ended things with his finisher the Muscle Buster.
