Frank Lampard is the reason Everton’s Anthony Gordon’s Chelsea move in doubt

Anthony Gordon is a talented English professional soccer player who presently plays for Everton Football Club’s first team under manager Frank Lampard, but has lately opted to leave Merseyside in order to pursue greater challenges in his career.

Despite receiving interests from Chelsea Football Club, the Merseyside club authority rejected all the bids for the Englishman and decided against the idea to offload him this summer.

Why was Anthony Gordon transfer rejected by Everton?

Frank Lampard recently claimed Anthony Gordon will stay at Everton after Chelsea missed his deadline to complete their £60 million purchase, despite the fact that the Toffees youngster scored in their 1-1 draw against Leeds.

Everton boss has stated unequivocally that the club would not contemplate doing deal with Chelsea for Gordon after they failed to reach a deadline he set.

When asked last Friday when there was a point of no return for Chelsea in this drama, Lampard refused to say, but when asked following Tuesday’s 1-1 draw with Leeds if the deadline had been missed, Lampard responded emphatically: “Yes.”

Gordon had informed Lampard that he wanted to come to Stamford Bridge, and there were reports that Chelsea would make a £60 million bid for the 21-year-old, who scored his team’s goal at Elland Road and never stopped sprinting throughout.

Everton, though, were sure that a second bid for Gordon, who drew attention from Tottenham and Newcastle this summer, never occurred, and if they return before Thursday’s deadline, Chelsea would be given short shrift.

Frank Lampard also said, ‘Anthony is too important a player, he has showed his worth in the last two games, it is too late. He is going to be special. In the bigger picture, he has an affiliation with the fans. It is a process, can we build around that? The interest in him is because he is a top player and why we are so keen to keep him. You saw the reasons why (we think so highly of him) in the last two games. He is our player, he has come through he is a v good player and will get better and better.”

Lampard’s objective now is to bolster his own team, and Everton are nearing a deal to bring Idrissa Gana Gueye back to Goodison Park from Paris St Germain and they are likely to add another midfielder, maybe Manchester United’s James Garner, as well as a striker.
