Giants QB Daniel Jones excited on dynamic duo potential with TE Darren Waller: “He’s been really fun to work with”

Entering the offseason, the New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones appears to be brimming with excitement as he looks forward to the potential of forming a dynamic connection with the veteran tight end Darren Waller.

Waller is considered one of the best pass catchers at his position and the Giants general manager Joe Schoen took a big leap acquiring him from the Las Vegas Raiders.

Daniel Jones and Darren Waller to become a dynamic duo?

Jones started building an intimate friendship with the Giants’ new TE during private workouts in Arizona and that carried over to organized team activities. The fifth-year quarterback is left wowed by Darren’s phenomenal athleticism saying he has been really fun to work on the field,

“Darren’s been great. I think as soon as you walk on the field, you can see he’s a big guy. He can run. He can run every route. Catches the ball really well, great body control. He’s been really fun to work with. A really smart guy. He’s picked up things really quickly, too.”

The Giants had their third of 10 OTA practices across the parking lot and Daniel found Waller’s figure athletically fit and noted the former Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year is following an Impress learning curve,

“He’s a true 6’6″. He’s a true 250, 260, and can fly, can run, can run all the routes. He’s just an impressive athlete. He’s just been locked in. You can tell it’s important to him. He’s put a lot of effort into learning the stuff and getting caught up. It’s been fun working with him.”

What did Waller say about Jones after practicing the OTA session together?

The veteran TE also holds mutual admiration for the Giants’ young QB saying Daniel possesses a strong personality that the people close to him can recognize,

“I’ve been very impressed with Daniel. Arm talent, intelligence, funny guy. He’s got a lot of personality that you really get to see once you get to know him some more,” said Darren.

The 30-year-old heaped on high praises for his teammate saying the signal-caller is one of the hardest workers in the team who is keeping up the incredible dedication and stepping in to help his co-workers in their need.

“He’s a smart guy. He’s funny. He’s driven. He’s one of the hardest workers as far as like coming in early for preparation and staying after for recovery and doing what he needs to do, having a routine, having a plan. I feel like that sets the tone when you know like, okay, this guy that’s stepping in the huddle telling us what we need to do, where we need to go, he’s really out here putting all the work in and then some, and then he also wants you to have a good time while you do it,” added Waller.

With a promising QB like Jones teaming up with a standout TE like Darren,  New York’s offense is expected to make waves on the football field. Are you excited to witness the potential duo’s formidable force? You can share your thoughts with us in the comments.
