‘Going to get everybody’ Heavyweight icon Mike Tyson sends compliments to the way of potential unified world champion Oleksandr Usyk

Oleksandr Usyk has already secured a place among the boxing greats with his WBA, IBF and WBO title wins. Now he looks to capture the WBC belt in a rare feat that the boxing world last witnessed 20 years ago. Unfortunately, the WBC belt is held by the legend Tyson Fury who is still a formidable opponent for anyone despite taking a short retirement.

Many greats have tried to defeat ‘The Gypsy King’, some have put up a fight, and others have gotten beat up handily. The likes of Anthony Joshua were touted for a match-up that never materialized while the likes of Joe Joyce are looking for an opportunity to step into the ring and potentially take the glory.

Usyk has beaten both Joe Joyce (amateur bout) and Anthony Joshua (twice). He also has lots of other big fights to his name. The boxing world is hyping up the three-title holder as the answer to Tyson’s puzzle. Boxers like Frazer Clarke have shown their support to Oleksandr and proposed to be sparring partners.

Veterans like Mike Tyson have also come forward in support of the current IBF title holder. “I think Usyk’s going to get everybody. Usyk is very smart and intelligent, and he’s awkward. I think Usyk is a great fight for anybody.”

Mike is probably one of the best candidates to make such evaluations being a comparatively short Boxer himself. ‘Iron’ relied on smart fighting and impressive power to beat his opponents. Usyk is also noticeably small compared to Fury and will probably have to fight smart should he want to capture the glory.

When will the Fury vs Usyk match take place?

While no concrete details are available. Promoter Frank Warren did claim, “The date will probably be in March, That’s basically where we’re at, early March. But no location has been finalized, once we get the fight done then the rest will just fall into place, we’re still negotiating as to the site but until we’ve got the fight done then we’ve got nothing. Let’s get the fight done and then get to where it’s going to take place. You never know, it could take place at Wembley.”

When and where do you think the fight will take place?
