‘I don’t think we’ll do an extension’ Draymond Green drops bombshell on his future with Warriors

The relationship between Draymond Green and the Golden State Warriors always felt like a match made in heaven. Green made his NBA debut with the Warriors back in 2012 and even though neither side has parted ways since then, the long-term relationship could potentially come to an end next year.

In a recent interview with Bleacher Report, the forward expressed his doubts over any contract extension as his contract is due to expire next year. “I spoke on that at the very beginning. I don’t think we’ll do an extension.” He said.

Green returned to the Warriors camp after taking a short break following his infamous altercation with his fellow teammate, Jordan Poole. The franchise wanted to handle the outrageous incident internally but failed to do so because of a leaked video of the occurrence. The Warriors were forced to fine Green after the video of him striking Poole went viral on social media.

Draymond dismissed all the rumors regarding his suspension when he joined the team for their last preseason game on Friday.

Green is all set for the commencement of the regular season next week, but he hasn’t completely ruled out his departure from the Warriors. “It doesn’t mean that I won’t be back here. I just don’t think we’ll do an extension this year. So I said that at the beginning of camp. That’s not something that I’m gonna talk about all year,” Green assured fans it’s not the end yet.

Green is currently on a red hot form. As the Warriors get ready to defend their championship title, the power forward won’t let contract talks get in the way of his and his team’s play. “We’ve got a championship to win. I’m not one to let conversations about my future or what I’m going to do … I don’t get off into that.

Draymond Green will be hoping to continue his championship-winning legacy this year. He won his fourth NBA title in seven years with the Warriors last June while making his fourth all-star appearance and first in four years.

On the other hand, the Warriors are not ignorant enough to let someone like Green leave them like this, especially when the forward is still at his peak. Hopefully we’ll see the current NBA champions handing an extension on the table soon.
