“I feel very good at this club”: Real Madrid Loanee Brahim Diaz wants to stay at AC Milan amid comeback rumours to Los Blancos

Real Madrid loanee Brahim Diaz may end up joining Italian giants AC Milan after impressing in his loan spell with them.

Brahim Diaz’s uncertainty about his future may finally be quelled this summer. Both Real Madrid and AC Milan will have to consider whether they want to keep the player. But now the player himself has hinted at his future.

Brahim Diaz was at his best in yesterday night’s 5-1 triumph against Sampdoria. He also sent an indication to the club about his future through a gesture.

AC Milan ran a rout against Sampdoria with French striker Olivier Giroud scoring a hat trick. Rafael Leao scored the opener and Brahim Diaz also scored a great goal. It was his first since April 2 when he scored against Napoli. He also assisted two goals on a great night for him.

But his celebration caught the eye of many. After scoring, he kissed the AC Milan crest on the shirt, signaling his desire and intent to stay at the club.

Even in the post-match interview, he subtly said his desire. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Moroccan-Spaniard said, “I’m happy here at Milan. I feel very good at this club, then I don’t know what gonna happen with Real Madrid.”

“I kissed the badge because that’s what I felt in that moment.”

Brahim Diaz’s parent club is Real Madrid. The Spanish giants bought him in January 2019 for a fee of €17 million from Manchester City. But the very next year in 2020, he was allowed to join AC Milan on loan. After impressing in his first stint, he was again allowed to go on a loan, this time for two years. And now his loan period will end on June 30, and he will return to Real Madrid.

Both coach Stefano Pioli and the club’s technical staff highly regard the player as a great player. But club directors Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara think his transfer value would be too high for a player of this caliber.

Milan would still try to negotiate a transfer for the player. It is expected that Real would demand a fee of €22 million for a permanent transfer. There could also be a buy-back clause included for a fee between €26-27 million. However, the club is hesitating to pay such a fee, considering the finances and future plans of the club.

Is Real Madrid going to keep Diaz?

This season, he has 31 Serie A appearances for the Rossoneri. In those games, he has stacked up six goals and six assists. He was a pivotal part of the team that went all the way to the Champions League semi-finals. Unfortunately, they lost 3-0 to rivals Inter Milan for a spot in the final.

The Los Blancos do appreciate the player and have noted his development in his time spent in Italy. They are interested to bring back Diaz to keep him as a rotating player. Given that both Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz are expected to leave the club this summer, keeping Brahim could prove to be a good decision.

Diaz is also only 23 years old, which means he could further develop into a great player.

His current contract ends in 2025, with Madrid thinking of offering him a two-year extension.

It is now up to Milan to act fast to secure the transfer of Brahim Diaz. Otherwise, Madrid will not hesitate to find a better offer or keep him at the club. And the player himself may change his mind if there is a lack of action from Milan.

Both Milan and Diaz will now face Juventus away on May 29. Currently, Milan is fifth in the Serie A table, just outside the Champions League spots. A win will keep their Champions League qualification hopes alive.
