‘I’m gonna blow him out the water’ Jimmy Crute fails to keep his word as bout vs Alonzo Menifield ends in draw at UFC 284

Jimmy Crute vs Alonzo Menifield was one of the fights in the UFC 284 card that got overshadowed to a great extent by the title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Islam Makhachev. But Jimmy made some big promises in the leadup to the fight as he was coming back from a layoff but failed to live up to his words.

Earlier Crute tried to hype up his fight by saying, “Alonzo’s got some great skills. I think people underestimate his wrestling and his ability to string things together there. He’s more than just a big, heavy hitter, but just wait. All I’m gonna say is just wait because I’m gonna blow him out of the water. This is different this time. He’s preparing for the wrong person, I promise you.”

One of Jimmy’s last losses came against the reigning light-heavyweight champ Jamahal ‘Sweet Dreams’ Hill. The 26-year-old took some time to show some love and support to the new champion as well,

“To be honest, I was just happy for Jamahal. It’s his win, man. It’s his win to enjoy, and he’s a great person. It was just good to see him get what he deserves. He deserves to be a world champion. I don’t put myself selfishly into that situation. I’ll earn my own title shot and, yeah, it was just good to see that.”

What is our analysis of Jimmy Crute vs Alonzo Menifield?

If you’re gonna talk the talk, then make sure you walk the walk. That is pretty much the message UFC 284 gave us. Jimmy Crute has a combined record of 12 wins and 3 losses in MMA and a record of 4 wins and 3 losses in UFC. He is currently coming off a two-fight losing streak and over a year-long layoff.

This was his opportunity to make a strong statement and find his place back up near the title picture. Instead, the Australian now has to prepare for his next fight, whoever that might be against.
