Israel Adesanya reacts to Sean Strickland’s brawl with Dricus

Israel Adesanya responded to the altercation between Dricus du Plessis and Sean Strickland, who were both present at UFC 296. Following an intense exchange of words during the UFC’s seasonal press conference earlier this week, the two got into a massive fight at the pay-per-view that just ended.

It appeared as though Strickland started the fight by jumping over chairs to go after Du Plessis, but security intervened, and the middleweight champion was led out of the arena. Following their altercation in person, the two engaged in some back-and-forth on social media. When they enter the octagon in January, security won’t be able to assist Strickland, Du Plessis warned on X.

In the meantime, ‘Tarzan’ claimed that he attacked the South African fighter due to remarks he made concerning his father.

Israel Adesanya also took to X to give his two cents on the brawl. He reacted to Strickland asking Gilbert Burns’ family to move before attacking du Plessis.

Sean Strickland vs Dricus Du Plessis to face-off at UFC 297

Middleweight champion Sean Strickland (28-5 MMA, 15-5 UFC) had a brawl against the next title challenger Dricus Du Plessis (20-2 MMA, 6-0 UFC). On January 20, UFC 297 will take place at Scotiabank Arena and it’ll be available for pay-per-view.

Tensions were still running high during Strickland and Du Plessis’s confrontation yesterday during UFC 296, which resulted in a heated exchange of words during the press conference too. A title fight between Strickland and “Stillknocks” is slated for the first pay-per-view of 2024 at UFC 297 in Toronto.

Earlier in September, “Tarzan” defeated Adesanya to win the middleweight title by a surprisingly convincing unanimous decision. In July, Du Plessis defeated former champion Robert Whittaker by TKO in his most recent bout.
