“It’s not my thing”: Dana White uninterested in Nate Diaz’s boxing debut vs Jake Paul despite personal connection with UFC star

Dana White, the president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, has refused to discuss the anticipated fight between Nate Diaz and Jake Paul, despite taking a dig at Paul in a recent interview.

In a recent interview with Jim Rome, Dana White was asked about the fight between Nate Diaz, a UFC veteran, and Jake Paul, a YouTube personality turned boxer. White responded by taking a dig at Paul, stating that he doesn’t take Jake seriously as a fighter.

Dana White was not a fan of celebrity boxing to begin with

White’s comments are not surprising, given his history of criticizing celebrity boxers who enter the sport without any prior experience. However, White’s comments have also sparked speculations about the fight between Diaz and Paul.

Despite the speculation, White has refused to discuss the possibility of a Diaz vs Paul fight, stating that he has no interest in promoting such an event. White, on a previous occasion, mentioned that he was focused on promoting legitimate fights between skilled fighters, rather than promoting fights between celebrities and athletes from other sports.

Although Jake has a record of 6 wins and 1 loss, with notable victories over fighters such as Ben Askren and Nate Robinson. Paul’s boxing skills have been the subject of much debate, with some critics arguing that he has yet to face a legitimate opponent in the sport.

White took a dig at Jake for choosing Nate

On the other hand, the UFC boss did acknowledge that he has a good relationship with Nate Diaz. He wished the former UFC man all the luck. The Stockton star might just shock Jake. However, White does not like the idea of Jake hand-picking fighters. White ridiculed Jake for his loss against Tommy Fury.

Bringing up that loss, Dana claimed that Jake could not digest the fact that he lost a bout to someone in his age group and weight division. Which is why, the younger Paul picked someone significantly smaller in size. It does not help Jake in any case when he picks a 40-year-old to fight against, mentioned White.

Dana’s comments highlight the ongoing debate about the legitimacy of celebrity boxing and the impact it has on combat sports. While some fans and analysts view celebrity boxing as a fun and entertaining spectacle, others argue that it detracts from the sport’s integrity and credibility.

Nate Diaz is a well-respected fighter in the UFC, with a record of 22 wins and 13 losses. Diaz can take a punishment in the Octagon and will try to emulate that in boxing too. Diaz’s most notable victories include those against Conor McGregor, Anthony Pettis, and Michael Johnson.
