Karim Benzema returns on training, wins Alfredo Di Stefano award, huge boost in Real Madrid camp

French professional striker Karim Benzema is the second-highest goal scorer and best assist provider in Real Madrid’s history. His abilities have been compared to those of an immensely talented striker, who is also a deadly finisher from inside the box.

The 34-year-old striker had already won the UEFA Best Player of the Year Award. The undisputed favorite to win the Ballon d’Or this year is the prolific and creative forward Karim Benzema, who is at the top of the list of 30 candidates.

At the MARCA Awards Gala for 2021–2022, he received the Alfredo Di Stefano Award for Best La Liga Player. Benzema said after receiving the award, “It’s a very important trophy for me. I want to thank my teammates. Every year it’s more difficult to win, but we’re strong.”

It is well understood that Real Madrid lacks depth at the striker position, with Mariano Diaz now appearing to have no place in the team’s starting lineup. As a result, the fans’ worst nightmare came true when Benzema injured himself against Celtic.

He missed the past two weeks of France’s team practice because of a lengthy injury layoff. Benzema suffered a hamstring injury. He was found to have a hamstring strain in his right thigh and a torn semitendinosus tendon.

After overcoming a severe injury, the Real Madrid captain returned to training on Wednesday. He wants to play in Sunday’s La Liga match between Los Blancos and Osasuna right away.

“I’m ready to play. I’m lucky to be able to play for the best club in the world,” he said. “Di Stefano always told me to believe in my dreams and to enjoy every moment at Real Madrid.”

Since Cristiano Ronaldo left Real Madrid, Benzema has become an absolute superstar for the team and served as the foundation for the Champions League victory last year.

In 46 appearances for the team in the 2021/22 season, he scored 44 goals and contributed 15 assists, according to Transfermarkt statistics.

Real have preserved a flawless start to the season despite Benzema’s absence. The team led by Carlo Ancelotti has won every game they have played thus far, leading Barcelona by two points in La Liga, dominating the group stage of the Champions League, and winning the UEFA Super Cup.
