Flowers emerged as the 22nd first-round pick in school history and the first BC receiver drafted since 1987 after the wide receiver was chosen by the Baltimore Ravens with the 22nd overall pick in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

What was the gift Zay Flowers presented to his father?

One person, his father Willie Flowers, is primarily responsible for Zay as we know him today. The 22-year-old’s father raised him and his siblings, so he learned all of his hardworking and morality from watching him do that.

So, even though he will never be able to fully appreciate his father’s influence on his life, the young star still wanted to bring his father joy and make him proud of himself. The Boston College standout recently gave his father a 2023 Mercedes Benz GLE 450. Observe Willie! How grateful he is to receive such a pricey and wonderful gift from his little son.

“I used to see him get up and go to work at 4 a.m. in the morning; he did that every day Monday through Friday,” he said reminding his fathers’ contribution.. “Then he would get up Saturday, wash our clothes at the wash house, cook everybody breakfast and take us to football games. Then, do the same thing Sunday, and then go back to work Monday. So, just seeing him do that, it gave me my drive.”

The rookie Ravens player is the eleventh of his father’s fourteen children. Although the father should be in charge of paying the bills for the family, Willie had to take on the role of a mother as well because Zays’ mother, Jackie Walden, passed away in 2005 after suffering a head injury. Following that, his father assumed the roles of both a mother and a father to all of the children.

The WR always possesses a great respect for his father’s contribution and always tried to make his hard work worthy and ended up being the first skilled position player from BC to be selected in the first round since quarterback Matt Ryan was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in 2008. His inclusion on the Lamar Jacksons‘ roster, however, is undoubtedly his greatest accomplishment.

As a father, he kept his word, and Zay is now working hard to help his father forget every hardship he has faced over the years.
