LeBron James sends heartfelt message to Dre Greenlaw after 49ers LB injured in Super Bowl LVIII

NBA superstar LeBron James has always been a football fanatic. In fact, he could have pursued a career in the sport given how good he was at high school.

LB23 not only regularly keeps tabs on the buzz surrounding the NFL, but also provides his savvy insights on a weekly basis. It is only natural that LeBron James had a say about the Super Bowl LVIII and a freak accident in it has not evaded his attention.

LeBron James sends prayers to Dre Greenlaw

On Sunday, February 11, 2024, LeBron James went to Las Vegas to watch the Super Bowl game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers. In the second quarter, Dre Greenlaw of the 49ers was ruled out due to a non-contact injury which was later on disclosed as an Achilles injury.

The 4-time NBA MVP did not hold back and tweeted on X (formerly known as Twitter) about the linebacker, appreciating his remarkable performance this season, “UNREAL MAN!!! Prayers to Dre Greenlaw. An absolute BEAST.” In the end, the Kansas City Chiefs won the Super Bowl LVIII by 25-22.

The stadium was star-studded as it is often seen in the Super Bowl. Celebrities like Jay-Z with his kids, Paul Rudd, Jeremy Renner, Blake Lively were among the attendees. Of course, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce’s girlfriend Taylor Swift was also present who returned in time from her Japan tour to catch the action.

LeBron James’ favorite NFL team

Over the years, LeBron has been seen changing his allegiance over NFL success. In his early days, the forward became a Dallas Cowboys fan. Justifying his support for only the successful franchises he said, “I’m a supporter of winners. As a kid growing up, I needed inspiration to get out of the situation I was in. I loved the Bulls, Cowboys and loved the Yankees. Those are winning franchises. I liked them because they gave me hope of being a winner.”

The 4-time Championship winner does not associate himself with anything short of perfection and before the 2020-2021 season, he expressed his love for his hometown team, the Cleveland Browns, ditching the Cowboys.

King James stated in an interview that he no longer supports the Dallas-based franchise but vigorously watches the Browns games. With the Browns not winning a trophy in a prolonged period, the Cleveland team are at risk of being dumped by LeBron as well.

LeBron has previously expressed his desire to own a football team and fans often speculate what could it be like if he makes a career switch from NBA to NFL.
