The WWE WrestleMania39 event did not feature the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles, which was a letdown for the women’s roster. However, this week, the titles were once again up for grabs and defended by the champions.
Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez have both claimed the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship for the second time. However, the circumstances leading up to their victory were unexpected. Initially, they defeated Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai and IYO SKY to earn a title opportunity.
But on the night of the match, their opponents were different due to unforeseen events. Although Becky Lynch defended her championship, her partner Lita, a WWE Hall of Famer, was unable to participate as she had been attacked by an unknown individual backstage earlier in the evening.
The “Freebird Rule” allowed Lynch’s WrestleMania 39 trios partner, Trish Stratus, to step in and compete. Despite their recent win on WrestleMania Saturday, Stratus believed they could triumph together.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles Defended and Retained: A Recap of the Latest Championship Match
They displayed great synergy for a portion of the match, but in the final moments, Morgan turned the tables on Stratus by countering her signature Chick Kick and executing a roll-up for the win. To the surprise and disappointment of Lynch and Stratus, Morgan and Rodriguez became the new women’s tag team champions.
Despite having various tag teams partners such as Tegan Nox and Rhea Ripley since last spring, Liv Morgan, a former “SmackDown” Women’s Champion, seems to have found a reliable partner in Rodriguez. As the new champions, it remains to be seen who will rise to challenge them.

For example, even though Shayna Baszler and Ronda Rousey emerged victorious in the Fatal Four-Way Women’s Showcase match at WrestleMania 39, they have yet to make an appearance. It will be intriguing to see which formidable opponents step up to face Morgan and Rodriguez in the future.
