“I’ll just have to win faster”: Ronda Rousey got her leg stitched up ahead her first fight after being attacked by ‘porkchops’

Ronda Rousey was without a doubt one of the biggest UFC stars at one point in time. UFC president Dana White who at first was reluctant to even have female fighters in the promotion took a risk by signing ‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey as UFC’s first women’s champion.

At that moment, Rousey had already won the bantamweight title at Strikeforce. She maintained her amazing run at the UFC as well and went on to win six straight fights.

Rousey’s first fight under the UFC banner was against Liz Carmouche at UFC 157. Although Rousey dominantly defeated Carmouche in the very first round via submission, that fight had a rather interesting backstory for the champion.

n her autobiography, My Fight/Your Fight, Ronda Rousey detailed how two days prior to the fight, Mochi, her dog, engaged in a physical altercation with Porkchop, a dog owned by Wetzel Parker, who was then Rousey’s flatmate. Porkchop was “still in fight mode” as Rousey stepped in and bit her twice, once on each foot and shin.

“There was a hole in the arch of my foot,” Rousey wrote. “Flesh was hanging off the base of my toes. A split second later, blood filled the holes and started gushing onto the carpet.” Rousey’s foot had to be sewn up before she could be ready to tip the scales due to a trip to the emergency department and a subsequent appointment with a plastic surgeon.

She was determined to participate in her first MMA fight despite the fact that the athletic commission’s rules prohibited competitors from fighting while still wearing stitches.

How is Ronda Rousey doing in the WWE?

Ronda Rousey

Rousey lost her belt after suffering consecutive defeats against Holy Holm and Amanda Nunez and decided to walk away from the sport in 2016. After being out of sight for more than two years, Rousey surprised everyone by making her debut at WWE on January 2018.

Rousey was never consistent in the WWE until last year. Her latest appearance was in WrestleMania 39, where she was involved in a tag team match. In her latest appearance at WrestleMania 39, the duo of Rousey and Baszler won a four-way tag team match featuring the team of Raquel Rodriguez & Liv Morgan, Natalya & Shotzi, and Chelsea Green & Sonya Deville.

How long will Rousey’s WrestleMania run continue only time will tell but as of now it seems like the former UFC champion is enjoying her time in the sports entertainment industry.
