Manchester United, Inter Milan in final stages of $50 million plus Andre Onana deal

After the departure of Manchester United’s number 1 David DeGea on a free transfer, the red-devils were on the lookout for a new goalkeeper. Erik Ten-Hag targeted Andre Onana as the new first choice keeper for his side. After long drawn negotiations between Onana’s current club Inter Milan and Man United, the clubs have finally agreed a fee for the Cameroonian’s transfer to England.  

Andre Onana moved to Inter from Ajax in 2022 and has made 41 appearances for the club. Onana was recently on the losing end of the Champions League finals against Manchester City and will be rearing to take revenge against United’s territorial rivals. The keeper was in fine form and was crucial to Inter’s success in the season.

Erik Ten-Hag and Andre Onana share a long-standing relationship having been successful together in the Dutch league. The United head coach will be looking forward to rekindle his relationship with the 27-year old goalkeeper and reach even greater heights with him in England. The player also reached the Champions League Semi-Finals along with winning the Eredivisie and Dutch cup in the 2018-19 season.   

Reports claim United’s $56  million plus add-ons offer accepted by Inter

According to reliable Italian soccer reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, United and Inter are very near to agree the a deal worth $60 million (including add-ons) for Andre Onana.  The red-devils will be paying a $56 million upfront fee to get their new number 1 at Old Trafford. The deal also includes additional add-ons worth $6 million and will be triggered based on Onana’s performances and appearances. 

The clubs were drawn into negotiations over the goalkeeper, which saw Inter reject United’s first two bids and remain firm on the player’s valuation. The deal is expected to be finalized in the next hours which will see a new man guarding the posts in front of the Stretford End. 

Andre Onana spotted at Javier Zanetti’s restaurant for farewell dinner

According to Transfer Specialist Fabrizio Romano, Onana has been spotted at Javier Zanetti’s Botinero restaurant, which could very well be his last dinner in Milano. Andre was clicked with a memorabilia which with his signature and jersey number.  

Erik Ten-Hag has been the catalyst in ensuring that Onana joins Manchester United and has continually pressured the club hierarchy to go through with the deal. Onana will drastically improve the distribution from the back as he has completed 78% of his passes in the past season. Erik Ten-Hag wants Onana to join the squad on their USA tour for this pre-season.
