Mick Schumacher handed F1 lifeline with future on grid in doubt amid Haas uncertainty

For the German F1 racer Mick Schumacher, Williams has come across as a glimmer of hope, as there is a possibility of him joining the team. As a Haas driver, Mick debuted his journey on the F1 track at the 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix.

Schumacher has entered into a multi-year contract with Hass, which will expire at the end of the current campaign. The German young star has had a rough start to this season with the new changes in F1 rules and two big crashes in Jeddah and Monaco.

After a public warning by Guenther Steiner- the current team principal of the Haas Formula One Team, Schumacher improved his standings at the Austrian and British Grand Prix by scoring a good number of points. Nonetheless, Steiner sees Haas’s journey with Mick remains uncertain.

But the Williams boss, Jost Capito, has firmly stated that Mick deserves to stay in Formula 1, and he is certainly an option for the team.

As Capito admits, the young F1 driver certainly has some potential. “He could really come forward and be a very good driver in Formula 1. He’s now in his second year, if you look at George Russell, he made mistakes as a sophomore at Williams and he still developed.”, he stated. “The whole market is on the move, something changes every day. We didn’t put any pressure on ourselves. But that doesn’t mean we can’t decide if we wanted to beforehand.”

However, Capito admits that there are also other contenders for the position, including Nyck de Vries. But as other teams, such as Alfa Tauri, is also interested in the driver, it is still uncertain whether the driver will decide to join the team or not.
