Beneil Dariush: ‘It would be a joke’ if Michael Chandler gets a title shot, calls it as ‘clown show’

Beneil Darius doesn’t think Michael Chandler is a good fit for a title shot and stated that it would be a clown show if he does.

Given his current position at UFC, Dariush wonders why Chandler even considers seeing himself as a preferable candidate for a championship shot. Chandler responded in a different way to The MMA Hour that a win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 281 should be enough to warrant it. Though, later on, Dariush showed disagreement with the statement.

Recently, in a talk with Helen Yee sports, Dariush opined, “Honestly, I think he’s just trying to hype himself up, I don’t think that’s true. But if that does happen, man, I will – that’s basically a clown show. What? The guy just had a title shot and lost and then lost again. So it doesn’t make sense. After I beat Gamrot, I don’t think there’s anyone who could step in front of me. We’ll see what happens. I think it would be a joke if he gets a title shot.”

Although Chandler daydreams himself and believes that a victory over Poirier will do the trick, And will be enough to earn the next crack at the 155-pound crown, despite a 2-2 record under the UFC banner.

Dariush later stated that he believed Chandler could perform much better if he focused on the game rather than prepping for fights. He loses his UFC losses because he abandons his expertise and gets overconfident. Moreover, he claimed that he could be undefeated if he had a better mindset, but he is so focused on entertaining and exciting.
