“One of the bad decisions I made” Michael Jordan reveals why he regretted his decision of coming back from retirement

Everyone has a dark phase in their life. Even a player like Michael Jordan had a dark phase in his life he revealed himself.

M.J said why he regrets returning to the Washington Wizards.

“…. One of the bad decisions I made was to go back and play. Even though I was soothing an itch that I had, I also thought I was being innovative in my job by going down and evaluating the talent firsthand. I thought it would be a good idea to play against them, see what their tendencies were and what we were paying for. But at the same time, I became more critical of them because of the way I played the game and the way I’d approached the game, and the players didn’t respond to that..,” Michael Jordan stated to R. Shanken in an interview back in 2005.

Michael Jordan has acknowledged that he was sometimes too harsh in his criticism of his players. The six-time champion claims that his Washington teammates didn’t appreciate his competitive drive.

Unfortunately, Michael Jordan’s tenure as director of basketball operations and part-owner of the Washington Wizards did not go well. After a while, he sold Ted Leonsis 10% of the club and resigned as president. Michael Jordan has said that he cheated because the Washington Wizards’ business side was in disarray.

“You go in with initiative, and you go into a program that needs guidance, and you have to find out what the agenda may be. With the Washington situation, there was an agenda. They were well over the cap and they were losing money,” Michael Jordan went on.

Even though Michael Jordan’s stint as president and partial owner of the Washington Wizards is mostly forgotten, he did a lot to make DC proud. Michael Jordan played for the Washington Wizards for two seasons when he was 38 and 39 years old, and he averaged 21.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.5 steal a game.

Michael Jordan scored 40 or more points eight times and 51 in a single game, yet he was never able to advance to the NBA Playoffs. He won several games for the Washington Wizards with game-winning shots, and the fans got a taste of what it must be like to cheer for a team that included Michael Jordan.
