Oscar De La Hoya wants Floyd Mayweather to “f*ck off” Ryan Garcia’s life following Devin Haney, Rolly Romero bout controversy

Oscar De La Hoya, a boxing superstar, recently expressed strong opposition to former adversary Floyd Mayweather when emerging boxing star Ryan Garcia changed his mind about his next opponent. Ryan used to be with Oscar earlier but sides changed after his loss to Davis.

Oscar was irritated by Garcia’s spending most of his time with Mayweather and became upset after Garcia challenged WBA Champ Rolando Romero and used nasty words and suggestions for Mayweather. After much conjecture, Ryan has made it clear who he will face next in the ring.

Oscar De La Hoya slams Floyd Mayweather

The controversy stems from Garcia’s recent comments expressing a desire to face Rolly Romero instead of Devin Haney, despite initially targeting Haney as his next opponent. Mayweather, who served as Garcia’s advisor for a period, was reportedly involved in this decision shift, prompting De La Hoya to voice his disapproval.

Ryan Garcia was earlier Oscar’s protege but recently took a big turn in his young boxing career. Earlier, when Oscar used to be Ryan’s mentor, Ryan mentioned he wants to take on WBC super-lightweight world champion Devin Haney next, but after his outings with Mayweather he is looking to challenge WBA super-lightweight world champion Rolly Romero first instead.

Oscar didn’t like this and took a dig at Mayweather, stating that if he is Ryan Garcia’s promoter, then he should f*ck off.

Oscar said, “Pre-run with Floyd = Ryan wants Haney. Post-run with Floyd = Ryan wants Rolly. Floyd, if you want to give Ryan the secret to defence in the ring, that’s great. Other than that, if you are still a promoter like it says here, f*** off.”

Who is Ryan Garcia’s next opponent Devin Haney or Rolly Romero?

Ryan Garcia’s next opponent is surrounded by a lot of speculation. Earlier, when Ryan was with Oscar, it was expected that the 25-year-old boxer would face Devin Haney in the ring but that is out of the equation now.

After he started spending his time with ‘the Money’, it is expected that he will challenge Rolly Romero, who is the current WBA super-lightweight champion. Rolly threw a challenge at Garcia.

He said, “Like I said there are only two fights I want, one is ofcourse rematch against Tank but I think there is much bigger option. I want to go after Ryan Garcia. Ryan Garcia at 140 pay-per-view”

Garcia accepted the challenge and said, “All right Rolly, you asked for it. Let’s have a fight.”

Garcia, 24, lost his last fight in April 2023 to Gervonta Davis by TKO in the seventh round. He has 23 wins (19 by knockout) and one loss. Romero, 27, defeated Ismael Barroso by TKO in the ninth round on May 13, 2023. He has 15 wins (13 by knockout) and one loss.

Oscar’s breakout over Floyd Mayweather influenced Ryan to choose his next opponent. Ryan and Rolly seem eager to fight each other. Stay tuned with us for the latest updates on the fight.
