The Green Bay Packers are looking at beefing up their starting lineup with another talented quarterback after trading their four-time MVP, Aaron Rodgers, and adding Jordan Love. To that end, they chose former Penn State star quarterback Sean Clifford. The QB did not have high expectations, and the young star became very emotional after learning of his selection.
On Saturday, the Packers selected the Nittany Lions’ four-year starting quarterback in the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, taking him 149th overall.

The Penn State star enjoyed a pre-draft visit from the Packers in Green Bay prior to the draft, and it was his dream to be selected by the Packers. But the quarterback was aware that realizing the dream would be extremely expensive. With Rodgers already on the field and the Packers having selected a quarterback just three times in the previous ten years, the Packers don’t appear eager to add a quarterback to their roster.
Because of this, Clifford’s draft came as a huge surprise to him, and when he saw the results, he sobbed because his long-cherished dream had become a reality.

In terms of completion percentage (.614), completions (833), passing yards (10,661), total yards (11,734), passing touchdowns (86), and pass attempts (1,356), the 24-year-old ended his career as Penn State’s all-time leader. Being the only quarterback in program history to surpass 10,000 passing yards, he continued to be a great asset for them.
He is exceptionally precise in the quick passes and ended up being the only Penn State quarterback to record three games with 250 passing yards as well as three passing touchdowns in both of his seasons.
