“Put His Life on the Line,” Caleb Williams Backs former teammate Olu Fashanu at No. 9 pick

With less than a day left till the 2024 NFL Draft, the Chicago Bears have started getting recommendations for their draft decision. While the team is expected to use their first overall pick for USC, Caleb Williams, the team also has the 9th overall pick.

The Bears are not sure whether they should use the pick for a wide receiver, an offensive lineman, or a linebacker, but Caleb Williams wants them to use it to sign Olu Fashanu.

Williams told the media, “If I was able to choose… I’d probably go Olu Fashanu because I know he’d put his life on the line for me, protecting me.. And then one of the top 3 WRs.”

Olu Fashanu is a 6 ‘6, 312-pounder who won the 2023 Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year Award. His chemistry with Caleb Williams, who received a valuable advice from DJ Moore was forged during Gonzaga’s 2018 Washington Catholic Athletic Conference championship.

However, both went separate ways in college and had remarkable college careers. As Caleb Williams is going to enter the professional NFL world, he wants to join Olu Fashanu once again.

Bears locked on Caleb Williams as No. 1 pick long before NFL Draft

The Chicago Bears decided to select Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft well before the event. The team made it clear to other franchises, even before the NFL Scouting Combine, that they were not open to trading the top pick.

Despite quarterback-needy teams attempting to negotiate trades with top 10 picks, the Bears remained firm in their decision to keep the No. 1 selection.

Hopefully, as the 2024 NFL Draft starts today, Caleb Williams will be drafted by the Bears despite his unusual antic during the pre-draft process

The QB has demonstrated resilience and composure throughout the pre-draft process, showing little concern for the pressure and scrutiny that comes with being a top prospect.

Now, the Chicago Bears are eagerly awaiting Caleb Williams’ arrival, hoping he can break the pattern of disappointment that has plagued the team’s quarterback position for years.
