Teddy Long tips The Rock vs Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 over Cody Rhodes

Many of the expected battle schedules may soon change with The Rock’s return to WWE, as the WWE ring displays the item that the public targets the most. On this basis, the ex-SmackDown GM made his possible declaration. Theodore Rufus Long aka “Teddy Long”, whose journey from the bottom to becoming SmackDown’s General Manager shows his hard work and deep understanding of wrestling, has recently voiced something similar regarding the upcoming fixtures in the WWE.

Despite having a bigger rivalry with Cody Rhodes, Teddy Long feels that Roman Reigns would fight against The Rock instead. Long argued that this is because this rivalry is the strongest in the Bloodline table and would take the biggest stage to pull off. And seemingly, WrestleMania 40 will serve as the ideal setting for this.

Teddy Long backs Rock’s return to WrestleMania against Roman Reigns

Just like Roman Reigns and The Rock, American Nightmare “Cody Rhodes” is an acknowledged legend in professional wrestling. Prior to Cody Rhodes’ opportunity to capture the Undisputed Universal Title from Tribal Chief at WrestleMania 39, Roman vs. Braun Strowman or Roman vs. Brock Lesnar was one of the major rivalries in the WWE ring.

Since then, spectators have waited for a rematch between the two superstars, with Rhodes’ supporters hoping to finally see their hero crowned the Undisputed Universal Champion.

However, the return of Dwayne Johnson may disappoint Cody Rhodes’ fans, as no competition is more heated than that of the Bloodline table, and it was not Roman but The Rock who rightfully belonged at the top of the table.

Teddy Long speculates that, instead of Cody Rhodes, The Rock could face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40. The Rock was going to fight Reigns at WrestleMania, so eventually this is what it has come to. Brahma Bull also confessed that he wants to have WrestleMania main event with Roman Reigns.

In the podcast, Teddy Long argued that The Rock’s greater popularity makes him a better choice for WWE than Cody Rhodes. He said, “I look at it, you know, as a business decision, and that’s what this is all about. Business. Nothing against Cody Rhodes, I love him to death. He’s another one I have known since he was a little kid. But who’s gonna sell tickets? Cody Rhodes or The Rock? You know, and that’s the way I look at it.”

“And, I think to have Rock, he has been gone for a long time out of the ring, to have him to step in to wrestle at WrestleMania, as long as he’s gone, and I think they are gonna hold this in Philadelphia, another great city. So, brother, I’m telling you, that’s money in the bank”, Long added.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made a surprise return to the WWE

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson made a surprise return to WWE at SmackDown. The WWE shared a video on Twitter showing Johnson and John Cena facing off. Pat McAfee pointed out Cena to Johnson, and they had a friendly encounter. The Brahma Bull also interrupted a confrontation between Austin Theory and McAfee, taking down Theory with a “People’s Elbow.”

When Austin Theory and McAfee got into it, Johnson stepped in and dropped Theory with a “People’s Elbow.” The first time the People’s Champion had spoken to the Leader of Cenation in over ten years, it was a sight to witness. It was almost incredible to see Rocky and Pat McAfee speaking on WWE television in 2023 when John Cena strolled in and joined in on the conversation.

When Cena looked at The Rock, he smiled briefly and then welcomed him home in a way that made him think of the past. Both superstars returned for a quick buck despite the ongoing Writer’s Strike, as the online wrestling community was eager to point out.

We think Cody Rhodes should interfere with The Rock and The Big Dog’s match at WrestleMania 40 if it goes ahead as speculated. Then it will be more exciting to watch what happens next. Share your opinions in the comments.
