Arsenal are keen to bolster their ranks by adding Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz to their ranks, with Manchester United also interested.
Arsenal did not have the ideal ending to the season after missing out on the final Champions league spot to archrivals Tottenham Hotspur. Even though the Gunners missed out on Europe’s premier club competition, they still qualified for the Europa League. Mikel Arteta is keen to see his side do well in a competition that offers a direct passage to the Champions League. With that in mind, the former Arsenal captain is keen to add reinforcements.
“We want to make the squad stronger. We want to make the starting XI stronger, we want to make the specificity and the personality of our players stronger. That is what we are going to be seeking to do,” Arteta said speaking to SkySports earlier this month.
One player the Spaniard has set his eyes on is his compatriot Fabian Ruiz of Napoli. The midfielder is known for game reading, and ball progression abilities. He also has a wicked left foot. Ruiz has had a fabulous season for Napoli, and was instrumental in their initial title charge.
With just 13 months left on his deal, Napoli are said to be open to listening to offers for him in the region of £25million. That is pretty cheap price for a player of his quality. Manchester United, who are looking forward to a summer overhaul, are also said to be interested in the services of the former Betis man.
Ruiz has played 38 games for Napoli this season. He has scored 7 times, and assisted a further 5 more.
