Manchester United’s troubles on and off the field are not ready to settle down, with new controversies and disastrous performances on the field happening every other weekend. To fix that, the recently formed minority owners of the club, Ineos, have decided to invest in young and motivated players for the club’s future with no say from the managers in the transfers.
The club already has talented youngsters like Rasmus Hojlund, Alejandro Garnacho, and Lisandro Martinez in the senior team, and the emergence of Kobbie Mainoo, who recently has been praised by fans, adds to the squad’s future potential. However, recent transfer news states that the management is also reportedly targeting Michael Olise and Jarrad Branthwaite to sort out their attacking and defensive issues at the same time.
Manchester United target Olise and Branthwaite to revamp squad
After reports confirming a total revamp of the squad in the upcoming summer transfer window a few weeks ago, recent sources have reported that the Red Devils might be targeting Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite in the upcoming summer transfer window, as both of them are at the top of the signing list of Ineos.
The 22-year-old attacking midfielder, who is also capable of playing on the right wing, has been performing very well for his current club, with six goals and three assists in the current season. The French international, who also has English citizenship, joined Crystal Palace in the summer of 2021 after going through the youth academies of Chelsea, Manchester City, and Arsenal, three of the biggest clubs in the Premier league.
Owing to that, the player has masterful technical skills and is a beast with the ball on his feat, which is why even rivals Manchester City are interested in him. On the other hand, the 21-year-old defender is a player to watch out for in the future.
A potential solution to United’s defensive woes
Manchester United’s defense has been left in shambles by many clubs’ attacking prowess and it’s no surprise that the management is actively looking for quality defenders to sign for the squad. Earlier last month, there were reports about the signing of Bayern Munich center-back Matheus de Ligt as well who is not the first choice for the Tuchel side currently.
Recent reports have suggested that Ineos are keen on signing 21-year-old Everton center-back Jarrad Branthwaite, who is also liked by many other European clubs, including Real Madrid, who themselves require a world-class center-back.
The English left-footed center-back is on the rise of his career, as he has been on impressive form of late, delivering constant performances for his club this season and has already played 26 games and even scored a goal as well.
Being left-footed and having good on-the-ball progression, the Carlisle youth academy product is already a rare entity in the market that all clubs want to sign. Every club wants a center-back who is good on the ball and being left-foot dominant just adds to the already advantageous point.
If the Red Devils, under the new minor ownership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, can complete these two signings while being in a bidding war against the likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid, the squad and playing line-up could look so different and dangerous for any team to deal with.
