UFC 280: Petr Yan shouts “f*ck the judges” following disputed split decision defeat to Sean O’Malley

Petr “No Mercy” Yan, the former bantamweight champion expressed his dissatisfaction with the judges’ decisions after his controversial loss to Sean “Sugar” O’Malley on the main card of UFC 280.

The Fight of Night drew a great deal of attention considering Yan would win over O’Malley, according to fans and commentators. In addition to dominating “Sugar” for a third of the bout on the ground, “No Mercy” also outlanded his foe in the striking department.

As per the UFC Yan landed 97 blows to the American’s 91. However, it was determined that ‘Sugar’ was the one who delivered the more severe strikes. O’Malley hit 84 crucial strikes versus Yan’s 58, according to official statistics.

‘No Mercy’ suffocated O’Malley on the mat, recording a control time of 5 minutes and 44 seconds. Yan was successful in six of his 13 takedown attempts, while O’Malley failed in his one effort.

After all, Yan was devastated because this was his second decision loss, following a split decision loss to bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling.

Petr Yan unleashes his rage on the judges.

Petr Yan was seen as the favorite, whereas O’Malley was considered the underdog. Yan is the highest-ranked UFC bantamweight contender. He has been a professional fighter for a very long time.

However, the 29-year-old former bantamweight champion has a valid point. During the rounds, he secured many strong takedowns. He also appeared to have outclassed his opponent by a wide margin. Unfortunately, Yan was forced to accept defeat due to the judges’ decision to favor his opponent.

“No Mercy” had a minimal reaction in the cage when O’Malley was proclaimed the winner, but the former champion decided to share his feelings on Twitter after the fight, saying “F*** the judges!”

Yan isn’t the only one who felt robbed, as several of his fellow fighters expressed their dissatisfaction with the outcome on social media.

UFC fighters react to Petr Yan’s controversial decision loss at UFC 280

The fighters are shocked by how they fell short against an unfair opponent. They are both upset with the judges for favoring the other boxer.

Li Jingliang, a Chinese UFC fighter, commented on Petr Yan’s tweet. Li “The Leech” Jingliang had a response ready for the judges. He donned a tank top with the word “Robbed” written in red on it. Yan was graciously given this top by the Chinese boxer saying, “Bro, I have a shirt you can borrow because you were also #Robbed”

Dillion Danis, an outspoken ONE MMA fighter, was equally upset by the UFC judges’ decision and joked that someone should call the cops after the robbery.

Aleksandar Rakic, a renowned UFC light heavyweight contender, agreed with Danis. He also brought up Petr Yan’s previous bout, a title rematch against reigning champ Aljamain Sterling, which he also lost by a split decision.

Yan has lost three of his past four fights. He still maintains a rating in the P4P rankings, but he will have to wait for another title shot. His misery began when he was disqualified from the UFC belt by Sterling at UFC 259.
