UFC 288: Gilbert Burns vs Belal Muhammad stakes got higher as winner gets “guaranteed” title shot next against winner of Leon Edwards vs Colby Covington bout

The spark of controversy between Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns is about to take a turning point as UFC president Dana White has provided the surety of a title match to Burns. Recently, Gilbert took a battle with  Belal regardless of being assigned a backup position for the anticipated UFC welterweight championship match involving Colby Covington,  and Leon Edwards, which would eventually give rise to a championship opportunity.

This Saturday, at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., both of them step down in the arena for the co-main event of UFC. Besides, viewers and fabs can watch the event on ESPN+/ESPN.

It seems that Gilbert Burns is quite excited to avail this opportunity and after White has promised him a fight for the championship, Burn gives credence to it within blinks. Gilbert with a score of 22-5 MMA and 15-5 UFC had every reason to be patient and prepare for his chance at the crown. But he decided to continue fighting following the release of notice of combat against a speeding competitor.

Gilbert Burns celebrating after his win

This could be startling for fans but this is a fact and the reason must be the wording Gilbert gave to reporters. he said, “Leon Edwards gave an interview saying he’s injured, and he’s not looking to fight right now and just fight in October, and that’s when the first time I said, ‘OK, I have to fight,’” Burns also added his words with, “Then a couple of days after, I saw Charles Oliveira pulled out (of UFC 288), and I saw an opportunity there, but I was just thinking, ‘Who?”. “Sean Shelby hit me up and said, ‘We don’t have Colby. He’s not available. He’s going to fight for the title, but we have Belal Muhammad,‘ Then Gibert sounded quite excited to grab the opportunity and said “And I said, ‘Done.’”

The fact of the matter is that Gilbert asked for Covington, whereas President Dana have something different to offer him and then he introduced Burns with another opportunity to shine.
