UFC Vegas 83: Song Yadong claps back at Petr Yan for blunt reaction to his call out after victory over Chris Gutierrez

Song Yadong has been one of the busiest Chinese fighters competing in the UFC for the past seven years. He joined the UFC in 2017 and fought three times in a year. With 21 wins and 7 losses in his career, he has earned a great spot in the UFC bantamweight championship contenders ranking.

Yadong faced Christ Gutierrez on Saturday to make a mark in the division. Petr Yan also kept his eyes on the bout, assuming it would be his next fight. Petr Yan said something on Twitter regarding their potential fight that didn’t impress Song, and he called out the former bantamweight champion.

Song Yadong’s fiery response to Petr Yan

Song Yadong, who never shys away from saying what he feels, once again responded to a tweet from former champion Petr Yan. Peter was seen ringside on Saturday night during the WBA title fight. He and Conor McGregor came face-to-face in the middle of the ring. The face-off ended in friendly laughter, via MMA fighting.

However, Yan also had his eyes on the UFC Apex main event when both Yadong and Chris Gutierrez fought each other. The fight went all five rounds, and the victory went in favor of Song, but “No Mercy” was not impressed with how the fight went. Petr posted a tweet with the yawning emoji only.

After addressing the tweet, Song didn’t keep calm and fired back saying, “He posted the yawning) emoji. It means the fight was boring. but his last fight was boring, too—like sh*t.” A Chinese mixed martial artist sarcastically responded, mentioning the last fight of Petr Yan, which he lost, and calling it boring as well.

Song Yadong beats Chris Gutierrez.

Yadong lost only 1 fight in his past 6 UFC bouts. After securing judges’ decisions of 50-44, 50-45, and 50-45 in his favor for UFC Vegas 83, he mentioned the name of Petr Yan in his post-fight interview and called out to chase the belt.

Here Yadong said, “I’m coming to get the belt.” Song mentioned his next target. “Next one, Petr, sign the contract. Tomorrow I’m going back to train. I know you want to fight in March. OK, let’s go in March.”

He had earlier called for the championship fight when Aljamain Sterling was the reigning champion. But Yadong had lots of work to do. Currently, Yadong is at No. 7 in the ranking, and fans may get to see him in action with any of the former champions.
