Undefeated star Ian Garry claims to ‘outwrestle’ ex-UFC champ Kamaru Usman to reach ultimate goal of winning welterweight title

Ian Garry, the undefeated Irish UFC fighter, has no doubts about his wrestling skills, firmly believing that he can outwrestle former UFC champion Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington. Garry recently outlined his ambition for achieving the ultimate glory, which involves defeating “The Nigerian Nightmare.”

Garry’s immediate plan is to go toe-to-toe with Stephen Thompson, and after that, he’s ready to take on the division’s elite wrestlers, including former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and the current title challenger Colby Covington.

Ian Garry claims to outwrestle Kamaru Usman

Garry, earlier in  UFC Fight Night : Rozenstruik vs. Almeida, emerged victorious against Danial Rodriguez, securing a knockout win within 2 minutes and 57 seconds of the opening round. The Irishman, who currently holds a record of 13-0-0, shared his future aspirations within the octagon.

“I want to get the title as the best striker in the division, and that comes when I knock out “Wonderboy”, And that’s when that will come. And then after that, I want to start tackling the grapplers and the wrestlers, because I want to show the world that I’m not just a striker, and anyone who’s ever trained with me knows that I can do it all,” Garry told Lowkick MMA.

“So to fight the Usmans, to fight the Colbys, to fight whoever they fucking put in front of me that’s going to want to take me down and get rid of my hands and my feet. I’m excited to show the world what else is there. I’m excited to show the world what else I’m capable of.” The Irishman added.

Details on Ian Garry’s next fight

Garry’s most recent bout was against Neil Magny at U, where he emerged victorious by unanimous decision. Magny proved to be the toughest opponent the Irishman has ever faced, but Garry passed the test with flying colors, particularly with his damaging display of leg kicks, leading to a lopsided unanimous decision win.

In a post-fight interview, the Irishman expressed his desire to face Stephen Thompson. “I’m telling you now I need to prove myself as the best striker this division has ever seen,” Garry shouted.

“To be the best striker in the world, you need to beat the best strikers. Everybody has Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson on that list. I will prove to you I am the new generation of striker in the world.” Garry added.
