The NBA, recognized as the premier professional basketball league globally, was established in 1946 and has witnessed a myriad of events over the years. The NBA is no stranger to incidents like on court fights and disputes and fans running onto the court.
Infamous incidents like the Malice at the Palace are ones that taint the image of the NBA. Recently an NBA fan made an explicit sexual gesture during a game that took the cameraman by surprise.

There are fans who savor the opportunity to appear on the jumbotron, and be seen by thousands at the game and even more watching at home. One fan finally had his moment in the spotlight during last Thursday’s Clippers-Warriors game, and he did not let it down.
The man celebrated by raising his arms and then made a startling sexual gesture, as though he was performing a double twist and fellatio with two hands. As soon as the cameraman realised what he was doing, he swiftly adjusted the camera so that the footage of the two teams competing against one another appeared.
In that game, James Harden recorded a season-high 28 points, 15 assists, and seven rebounds, along with his 25,000th point. Kawhi Leonard contributed 27 points and eight rebounds to the victory, which would be the Clippers’ sixth straight.
Can NBA punish fans for violating Fan Code of Conduct?
The National Basketball Association seeks to foster a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable sports and entertainment experience in which:
• Players and fans respect and appreciate each other.
• Guests will be treated in a professional and courteous manner by all arena and team personnel.
• Guests will enjoy the basketball experience free from disruptive behavior, including foul or abusive language and obscene gestures.
• Guests will consume alcoholic beverages in a responsible manner. Intervention with an impaired, intoxicated or underage guest will be handled in a prompt and safe manner.
• Guests will sit only in their ticketed seats and show their tickets when requested.
• Guests who engage in fighting, throwing objects or attempting to enter the court will be immediately ejected from the arena.
• Guests will smoke in designated smoking areas only.
• Obscene or indecent messages on signs or clothing will not be permitted.
• Guests will comply with requests from arena staff regarding arena operations and emergency response procedures.
The arena staff have been trained to intervene when necessary to help ensure that the above expectations are met, and guests are encouraged to report any inappropriate behavior to the nearest usher, security guard, or guest services staff member.
Guests who choose not to adhere to this Code of Conduct will be subject to penalty including, but not limited to, ejection without refund, revocation of their season tickets, and/or prevention from attending future games. They may also be in violation of local ordinances resulting in possible arrest and prosecution.
