Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin and his family members went to the White House on Thursday. Hamlin had a memorable encounter with president Joe Biden during the visit, and he tweeted about it with his typical hands-in-a-heart emoji to commemorate the meeting.

During the Bills’ regular-season game against the Cincinnati Bengals in early January, the safety experienced cardiac arrest. Fans were extremely worried about the 25-year-olds’ survival! Eventually, Hamlin did survive, but utilizing an AED.

An amazing tour of Damar Hamlin to the White House

In the offseason, Hamlin visited Washington. On Wednesday, he first met with congressional representatives to discuss a bill supporting access to the AEDs Act to help protect kids from sudden cardiac arrest! Later, he visited the White House on an official tour and enjoyed some wonderful conversations with President Biden.

The President himself shared a video of their meeting, and it revealed what wonderful moments they had. Biden lavished praise on Hamlin and described him as a role model who can handle any circumstance while remaining steadfast to give his all on the court.

Biden tweeted, “Damar Hamlin’s courage, resilience, and spirit inspired the American people. And what’s more: he turned recovery into action — and our country is better for it. It was my honor to have him and his family here today.”

The President asked the safety if he believed Hamlin would be able to play again as he eagerly awaited his return to the field.

“Yeah, I think so, Hamlin says in response. After the meeting, the Buffalo Bills’ shining star expressed his happiness and amusement over meeting the President. He tweeted a thank you to the president for his encouragement and support, referring to Biden as “Uncle Joe.” 

 

The 25-year-old then sent out another tweet outlining his deep appreciation for the President’s valuable time that he had given to Damar despite developing a busy schedule.

Hamlin posted a tweet, writing, “It was a pleasure & an honor meeting you today. I know your time is precious and I wouldn’t waste a second of it! Our conversations were valuable.. #UncleJoe.” 

It seemed like a memorable experience for Damar as he got to meet one of the most influential leaders of the current world. Now, each and every fan of Damar, including Joe Biden, is eager to see the Bulls’ star player on the court soon.
