Why is Raheem Sterling facing potential ban by FA? Investigating the Chelsea winger’s peril

Raheem Sterling, the England international and Chelsea forward, moved to Stamford Bridge from Premier League champions Manchester City in 2022. In their recent London Derby triumph over in-form Tottenham Hotspur, the winger provided an assist in a 4-1 dominant scoreline.

Amidst the Premier League’s ongoing investigation against Chelsea regarding their two transfers in the Roman Abramovich Era, Sterling is also under the radar of the FA investigation and could face a potential ban over a video posted by the club on TikTok.

Sterling reportedly facing potential ban

New boss Mauricio Pochettino, who has been managing Chelsea through a tumultuous season, finally saw a glimmer of hope at the Spurs stadium on Monday. The Blues dominated the home side, shattering their unbeaten streak by scoring four goals against a 9-men opposition.

Chelsea’s latest addition, Senegal international striker Nicholas Jackson, scored his first-ever hat-trick in the Premier League with a top-notch performance within a 15-minute interval in the second half, punishing the high-line defense of the opposition and outplaying the Spurs.

The former Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling assisted Jackson in scoring his first goal against Spurs in the London derby clash and is under investigation by the FA over a video clip shared by the club’s TikTok account, which landed their star in trouble.

In the video, the Chelsea player was seen celebrating Cole Palmer’s penalty equalizer with his teammates when home fans threw an object at the players. In the incident, Raheem Sterling was captured throwing it back toward the stand. Thus, it is reported that the FA has taken note of the incident, and there could be potential disciplinary action, including a suspension.

Previously, players such as Richarlison, Jamie Carragher, and former Chelsea icon Didier Drogba have faced punishments for similar acts. Sterling could face the same if he is found guilty, according to the reports.

Sterling’s performance so far this season

The 28-year-old forward switched to Chelsea for a transfer fee of £47.5 million and signed a long-term deal until 2027 at Stamford Bridge. Since his arrival, he has significantly improved his performance under their Argentine boss Pochettino this season.

In his second season with the Blues, Sterling has earned ten starts out of Chelsea’s first eleven Premier League fixtures this season. Currently being the second top scorer for the team with 3 goals and 2 assists, only behind Nicholas Jackson, who has scored 5 thanks to his recent hat trick.
