Al Nassr’s latest defeat has fans infuriated as Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t won any major trophy for the club

Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Saudi created a lot of buzz when he controversially parted ways with Manchester United following his second spell with the English giants. While Ronaldo has finally found his goalscoring spree outside of Europe, things have not been quite bright for his current club Al-Nassr since the Portuguese talisman joined the side.

Al Nassr’s failure to win any major trophies since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo is definitely a cause for concern and this has left fans feeling understandably frustrated. The recent defeat Al-Nassr suffered has strangled their last hopes of a possible silverware even this season, as CR7 is yet to win a single major trophy for the Saudi Arabian outfit.

Al Nassr fans want Cristiano Ronaldo ‘out’ after latest defeat

Al-Nassr, after missing out on the league title last season, was disqualified from both the King Cup and Super Cup in the semi-finals, which was a significant disappointment for the team and its fans. In the 2023-24 season, the club started well, with Cristiano Ronaldo helping them gain some momentum. However, Al-Nassr’s struggles are far from over as Ronaldo’s side have lost some really crucial fixtures.

As a result, they are almost out of the title race in the Saudi Pro League, a reiteration of last season’s disappointment. Despite this, the team still had a chance to win the prestigious AFC Champions Cup until their quarter-final match against Al-Ain. Unfortunately, Al-Nassr was eliminated from the tournament after a dramatic match that went to penalties, with Al-Nassr missing out on their shots.

After experiencing the defeat, the fans became furious with the club’s declining performances. Al-Nassr signed some big names in European football before the season began, with Ronaldo being the biggest signing, which made fans very optimistic about their club’s future and they expected to win a number of titles. Many fans expressed their dissatisfaction on social media by suggesting that Ronaldo should leave Al-Nassr, given the Portuguese superstar has failed to win a single silverware for the club.

Cristiano Ronaldo begs for penalty but gets Lionel Messi chants

During the match against Al-Ain, Ronaldo had several opportunities to score more goals and lead his team to victory. Unfortunately, he missed most of those chances and was continuously ridiculed by the rival fans.

At one point in the game, Ronaldo was seen attempting to dive for a penalty, but the referee justly refused to award him the shot. As a result, the Al-Ain fans began to chant the name of Ronaldo’s arch-rival, the Argentine star, Lionel Messi.

This is not the first time Cristiano Ronaldo has been subject to boos and ‘Messi’ chants from fans. Throughout the season, the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner has had to bear with persistent ‘Messi’ chants coming from the gallery in moments he failed to make an impact for his team.

Will Al-Nassr bounce back by the end of the season? Will Ronaldo and Co. gel up more effectively to provide better performances? Tell us about your views regarding these scenarios in the comments.
