In the main event of UFC Paris, September 2023, Gane defeated Sergey by TKO in the second round. Gane demolished Spivak showcasing superior striking and elite takedown defense. Spivak had his 3-fight win streak snapped.

Gane was coming from a disappointing first-round submission loss to Jon Jones at UFC at UFC 285. The fight was for the vacant heavyweight title and Jones was coming from a three-year lay-off. Before the fight, Gane defeated Tai Tuivasa by knockout in the very first UFC Paris fight card in September 2022. Gane also fought Francis Ngannou at UFC 270 for the heavyweight title. However, he lost the fight by a closely contested unanimous decision.

Spivak was coming off a three-fight win streak with finishes over the likes of Derrick Lewis, Augusto Sakai, and Greg Hardy. The Moldovan fighter was one-dimensional in his takedown attempts and Gane easily defended it. Gane peppered Spivak’s body with kicks and punches and gradually worked towards the finish. Spivak was unable to get the fight to the ground where he was presumed to have an advantage.
